With a week to go before the release of Marvel's Thunderbolts*, the mystery behind the asterisk in the film's title is finally coming to light. This article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*

The infamous subreddit on Reddit, MarvelStudiosSpoilers flooded with posts from fans who took deep dives into everything that the Thunderbolts* movie holds. One such post took quite a long run and laid down a detailed summary of the film, getting the accuracy badge from the moderators, and revealed what the asterisk in the film's title means.

In alignment with a lot of fan theories, the asterisk is a reference to the Thunderbolts* becoming the New Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is reportedly a scene where Valentina Allegra de Fontaine introduces the team, who call themselves Thunderbolts* at this point, to the public as the New Avengers. This settles the asterisk's significance to the title as it means that the punctuation mark was a reference to the team's name being temporary and only existing within the movie. For all the future Marvel projects, the Thunderbolts* will be the New Avengers.

According to theories, he film also ends with a note that the New Avengers and Bob (Lewis Pullman's alter ego for Sentry) will return. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Thunderbolts* will have two post-credits scenes, so make sure to hang around for a little long after the credits roll!
