Drake kicked off his Anita Max Win Tour in 2024, performing his biggest hits and slipping in Drizzy-coded references that sent social media into a frenzy, leaving fans eager for what he had in store for 2025.
Initially the tour was intended to run through March 16, with its final show set for Auckland, until several complications came to the forefront. After announcing that the tour would be extended on January 14, the latest news is markedly less positive.
In a statement provided to Rolling Stone Australia, Drake’s representatives confirmed the surprise cancellation of several dates and possibly the remainder of the tour, citing “a scheduling conflict” as the inherent reasoning behind the seemingly baffling and unprecedented decision.
Drake to cancel overseas stint?
The official status of the tour remains purely speculative at this point, though many have assumed that the ‘Nokia’ rapper is calling it quits. The Daily Telegraph reported that Drake’s Monday night Brisbane show would culminate his Anita Max Win Tour although this has not been confirmed.
The official statement released by Drizzy’s team regarding the developing situation read as follows:
“We are actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows.”
“All tickets for the affected shows will remain valid for the new dates. Refunds will be available for those who prefer, but please note that as these shows are sold out, any refunded tickets will be released for sale.”
A number of publications including Rolling Stone have reached out to the representatives from the upcoming venues for clarity, but have not received any official word in response, casting even more doubt on the future of the tour.
Ticket sales for the shows are suddenly unavailable or have simply been removed from online domains adding more fuel to the speculation that the tour is at its end.
More specifically, as per Rolling Stone Australia, the March 7, 2025, date in Sydney now has no tickets available to purchase, while any mention of the Brisbane performance scheduled on March 4, 2025, has been entirely removed.
The previously scheduled dates were even further jeopardized Tuesday night, when claims revealed that the Toronto native had reportedly shipped his stage equipment to Europe, though this report is not yet confirmed.
While none of this seems like favorable news regarding his stint in Oceania, Drake could also simply be re-tooling his tracklist and coming back to fulfil his intended run after integrating songs from his latest drop with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Some Sexy Songs 4 U into the mix.
