Throwback to when Angie Stone talked about turning down Idris Elba
"I Wanna Thank Ya," a song from Angie Stone's third studio album, Stone Love (2004), featured a young Idris Elba as a love interest opposite Stone.
In an interview with VLAD TV, she reminisced about the time when they shot the video for her song. She said:
"We both had the same manager, you know there was a little crush here and there. I thought he was super cute with his pearly white teeth... I have heard many stories where he had told people he was looking for me, told people he was really digging me. "
In another interview, the Entanglement actress also said that although she resisted dating him, she almost said yes once.
"There is one weak moment that I had because I have a thing for beautiful teeth. And he came to the door, and I opened the door, and he was twirling this toothpick around in his teeth. And I fell on the side of the door like, ‘OK, what’s happening to me?'” she said.
Angie Stone also added that she was just unable to take the leap of faith, adding that she does regret her decision.
“I will never date Idris, because he’s like my brother. Do I regret it?Absolutely.”
The Ride Along actress is survived by her two children: daughter, Diamond, from her first marriage to Rodney Stone, and her son, Michael, whom she shared with singer D'Angelo.
