Rumors that comedian Alex Edelman is dating Jessica Alba seem to be dying down. According to E News, the duo first sparked dating rumors after Alba reportedly wore Edelman’s coat at the Oscars after party on March 2. This was months after Alba separated from Cash Warren after 16 years of marriage.

Speaking to the media outlet, a source clarified that they are not dating. The source said:

“They are not dating. They met walking to their cars at the end of the night and he offered her his jacket because she was freezing before they went their separate ways.”

Style magazine noted that Alex Edelman previously dated Hannah Einbinder. He was also previously involved with comedian Katherine Ryan. Edelman is originally from Boston and grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family. He gained recognition after becoming the first American since 1997 to win the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 2014 for his show, Millennial.

Alex Edelman’s latest stand-up special, Just For Us, explores his experience attending a white nationalist meeting in New York. The show has received widespread praise, earning him a Tony, an Emmy, and a spot on Time’s list of the 100 most influential people of 2024.

Concerning her separation from Cash Warren, Jessica Alba shared an Instagram post writing:

“I've been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years-both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I'm proud of how we've grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

The post continued:

“We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

Alex Edelman reflects on his performance over time

In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Alex Edelman was asked how Just for Us had changed since its debut in 2018. He jokingly said he had converted to Mormonism before getting serious about the show’s evolution. He explained that the performance became more focused over time as he refined the key themes and questions he wanted to explore.

Moreover, events such as the George Floyd protests, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh influenced the show’s direction. Attending a Jewish identity conference also played a role in shaping its content.

Additionally, he said the COVID-19 pandemic shifted his perspective, making certain topics feel more significant while others became less relevant. When asked about how he got physically fit for the performance, Alex Edelman said:

“I loved the physical element of it. I got thousands of steps from doing the show, and I felt so energised by it. God, it was so much fucking fun. But by the end on Broadway, my body was just breaking down; I was in so much agony, because truly it is such a physically demanding gig.”

Alex Edelman praised novelist Zadie Smith for being a better teacher. Despite learning from highly respected professors like Darin Strauss and Nathan Englander, he described her as his best instructor.
