Jurassic World: Dominion star DeWanda Wise is currently rumored to be featured as Storm/Ororo Munroe in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men film. Wise reportedly mentioned in an interview statement that she wishes to play the part of Storm, and it is the only character she sees herself playing.
Following this, there has been a social media tumult with fan posters popping up all over Twitter. Earlier there were rumors that Wicked star Cynthia Erivo might appear as Storm in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot. Besides, Jodie Turner Smith (known from Bad Monkey) also came up as one of the favorites. However, no deal between any of these stars and Marvel Studios has been confirmed yet.
DeWanda Wise rumored to play Storm for X-Men reboot
As per reports from multiple sources, Marvel Studios is eyeing DeWanda Wise for a potential role in an upcoming MCU X-Men. Though all we have now are rumors, possibilities remain for the 40-year-old star to deck up in a superhero suit this time!
Earlier in 2024, Wise had mentioned in a statement:
"Storm is the only Marvel character I'm interested in... it's the only Marvel character I've ever been interested in. I think we're going to single-handedly make that happen, and I thank you for that."
DeWanda Wise expressed her interest in working on a Marvel project, and she feels that Storm is the best-fit role for her. Kevin Feige also opened up about the future of the X-Men and what he thinks of a possible team-up with the Avengers.
Feige, while in an interview with Discussing Film, reportedly said:
"It is extremely emotional, on a personal level, to have done a movie with Hugh after 25 years and me being a small part of that first X-Men movie. And knowing that, thanks to various corporate studio entity deals, we now have 1000s of characters back — characters I hadn’t frankly thought about in many years because we didn’t have the rights to them. Now that we do, it is great fun thinking about who we can finally."
He further added:
"Our animated series X-Men ’97 was sort of the first taste of people reuniting with the X-Men mythology and that storyline. The response to that series just further excited us about how to bring the soap opera and the saga of the mutants to the MCU."
