Celebrities Lil Wayne and Chris Brown are under scrutiny for allegedly misusing COVID-19 relief funds and it has sparked a massive outrage.
The two artists are accused of accepting millions of dollars in federal funds from the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG), a government program created to support struggling businesses during the pandemic.
A recent report by Variety states that, the two celebrities allegedly spent the cash on parties, hotels, and personal whims instead of payroll or operational expenses.
The allegations claim that Lil Wayne and Chris Brown saw these benefits as a jackpot for themselves. Lil Wayne has reportedly spent the funds on throwing lavish parties and booking fancy hotel rooms. Chris Brown, who is claimed to lead a lavish lifestyle, allegedly diverted the cash into the same.
As the word of the alleged misuse spread, people on social media expressed their disappointment. One Internet user wrote:
"Despicable"
While many other fans had a lot more to say.
"So our tax dollars went to that? Can we get a refund on that?" wrote a X user.
"Wow! And the teachers in this country continue to remain underpaid." Expressed another.
"They ain’t the only one" said a fan.
"They are so disgusting mind you this is who Nicki calls legends all this time they are just frauds" remarked another.

People were also criticizing the system which provided these funds.
"This is so gross. Multi-millionaires taking taxpayer relief money to boost their already lavish lifestyle." an internet user stated.
"During the pandemic they gave millions to millionaires but 1k to those barely scraping by." stated another user.
Lil Wayne and Chris Brown’s Lavish Splurge
After the scandal came to light, many stories and reports started to circulate regarding Lil Wayne and Chris Brown’s shopping spree.
Lil Wayne canceled a Coachella gig on New Year’s Eve 2021 over weather-related concerns. But reportedly, his flight was just fine and he ended up partying at a club on Sunset Boulevard with rapper 2 Chainz. Although he didn’t perform he charged taxpayers almost $88,000 for concert-related expenses (Business Insider).
