Gerard Butler's Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is riding on the waves of success as the film proves to be a box office hit. It is hardly surprising considering Butler's overall appeal in action thrillers. The latest Den of Thieves film offers him a chance to flex his muscles and shows him going further with his capabilities in this heist actioner. It also shows his back with his co-star, O'Shea Jackson Jr.

While Butler shares an impressive chemistry with Jackson Jr, he has had his share of unfortunate experiences while working with his co-stars. He recently joined his Den of Thieves co-star for an interview with People magazine. During their free-flowing conversation, Butler opens up about an incident while filming Lara Craft 2 when things could have gone wrong. It is from a crucial scene when Butler was supposed to shoot while suspended mid-air. Here's what he said about shooting this scene:

"I almost shot Angelina Jolie in the face. I was coming down, hanging upside down, I had to fire a gun but I had no control over where this thing went, so I was just firing and I just missed her. I mean, it is insane."

Gerard Butler has earned a reputation as a reliable action star in the last two decades. It is backed by projects like 300 (2006), Law Abiding Citizen (2009), and the Has Fallen movie franchise. One of the earliest action projects that led him on this path was Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life, aka Lara Croft 2.

This adventure film put him in a major franchise, which had proven successful with its 2001 film. The 2003 sequel continued the titular tomb raider's journey. This time, she was paired with Butler's Terry Sheridan, a mercenary who helps her every step of the way.

However, things presumably went south when Butler was hanging from a rope and was supposed to shoot a gun in Jolie's direction. While filming this scene, Butler was reportedly losing his balance. As a result, he might have caused serious injury to Jolie. This regrettable incident highlights the need to ensure safety while shooting similarly risky scenes.
