Rapper and YouTube star DDG, born Daryk Dwayne Granerry Jr., has announced his and his girlfriend, Halle Bailey's decision to part ways. The two have now called it quits less than a year after welcoming their first child, Halo. The artist, 26, took to Instagram on Thursday, October 3, to disclose that the split was difficult, but ultimately essential for both of them in the long-term.

DDG said in his post,

"After much reflection and heartfelt support conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. Despite changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as coparents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we shared.”

He then called on fans to extend their "understanding and support" as he and Bailey deal with this tough time.

A look at Hailey Bailey and DDG's relationship from 2022 to 2024

January 2022

The duo was first spotted during an Usher concert in Las Vegas. Images taken of the two chitchatting over a drink went viral, and the internet began shipping them together. DDG himself shared photos on his IG story, wherein the two looked snug with DDG wrapping his arms around Halle.

June 2022

The couple officially began calling each other 'boo'. Additionally, they also made their red carpet debut at the BET Awards, and later that day, Bailey told Extra correspondent Rachel Lindsay,

"I have my boo with me today. We’re so excited. We’re gonna have so much fun just supporting Chloe [for her solo performance]. It’ll be great!”

November 2022

All is swell for the couple as they make several appearances together at various events and multiple red carpets. During an interview with Essence, the Little Mermaid star told the world she was a longtime fan of his.

"I’ve been a fan of his for years. I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them."

Halle recanted forgetting about DDG for a while, but took notice when she heard his music.

"But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history.”

February 2023

When DDG’s ex-girlfriend Rubi Rose tweeted, "Having ur b**ch [wear] my clothes is crazy lol,” the world went into a frenzy. Many began linking the tweet to Bailey, referencing an Instagram photo in which the singer could be seen wearing the same T-shirt Rose had worn in 2020.

Rose later put DDG on full blast as she shared screenshots of him asking her if she was in town, captioning the images, "U hitting me the day y’all argue is so u lol.” DDG responded,

"Lol u right, lemme go heal first.”

However, he promptly refitted all allegations of infidelity what concerned fans is that he unfollowed Bailey as well.

April 2023

All rumors were laid to rest when Bailey called DDG the "center of [her] world" in an interview with British Vogue magazine.

"Experiencing deep love for the first time in my life is something I feel has opened a whole new world for me creatively. What it feels like to love someone other than your family, like somebody you may not have known two years ago but now they’re the center of your world.”

She continued,

"I like all of the scary feelings that come with that. I like the suspense, the not knowing what’s going to happen, and I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be going through in womanhood.”

July 2023

In his song, Famous, DDG seemingly hinted at the insecurities that linger in his relationship with Bailey, as she was on a press tour for her role as Ariel in The Little Mermaid at that time. His song goes:

"Filmin’ a movie now you kissing dudes / You know I love you a lot / I don’t give a f--k if that s--t for promo / I don’t wanna see this s--t no more. Why is y’all holdin’ hands in the photo? / You know I’m insecure, that’s a no-no.”

The song also alludes to Bailey when he sings "Hardest thing I did was fall in love with a famous b-tch.”

October 2023

Rumors of pregnancy begin swirling, and Bailey's outfits that month did nothing to quell fan theories. She was spotted all over town in ill-fitting outfits and dresses that hid her bump.

January 2024

Bailey announced the arrival of their son Halo on Saturday, January 6, 2024 on Instagram. The caption read:

"Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son. welcome to the world my halo, the world is desperate to know you."

April 2024

Months fly by, and the couple are doing seemingly well as they navigate through their newfound parenthood. However, come April 2024, and once again, rumors of a breakup eventually found their new target. This time, the evidence was damning, as most of the photos the two had clicked together had been taken down on their IG accounts, and they no longer followed each other.

However, TMZ reported that the two were still going strong. The reason for the social media unfollowing remains unclear.

March 2024

This year in March, the new family of three took a getaway trip to St. Lucia, which is a famous Caribbean island nation, in order to celebrate the actress' 24th birthday. They clicked pictures and provided their fans a glimpse into the holiday on IG, and we have to say, it all looked great.

As of right now, Halle Bailey has virtually no photos of her and DDG on her Instagram, nor the other way around.
