Daniel Craig starrer Queer to release on Max

Queer is finally getting a digital release. It will start streaming on Max (previously HBO Max) on Friday, March 28, 2025. Subsequently, the film will also make its debut on broadcast on March 29 on HBO. People who might have missed watching it during the theatrical run will finally get the opportunity to enjoy this film.

The film is adapted from the namesake novel that came out in 1985 and was written by William S. Burroughs. It takes place in 1950s Mexico and follows the relationship between an expatriate and a man who is much younger than him. It was released on November 27, 2024, by A24 and met with positive reviews. Craig received the Best Actor Award from the National Board of Review for his performance.

It has also been nominated for the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Critics Choice. In an interview with W Magazine, Craig revealed that he did not think twice before signing the film. He also said that he had not read the book.

"I hadn’t. But I had read Junky, by Burroughs, and I knew of him. The film came together very quickly. Luca Guadagnino contacted me and said, “I’ve got this project,” and I was dying to work with him, so I didn’t really care what it was. Six months later, we were shooting at Cinecittà, in Rome."

He also spoke about how the Mexico City shown in the film does not exist.

"The Mexico City in the book—and in the movie—doesn’t exist anymore. Luca wanted to make something that felt classically Hollywood, but also a sort of fever dream. Burroughs took a lot of drugs."

Queer will be available to watch on Max from March 28, 2025.
