Damon Wayans talk about what it is like to be financially successful as a black man
During his recent appearance on Club Shay Shay podcast with host Shannon Sharpe on April 2, 2025, Damon Wayans got candid about becoming a successful black man in the industry. He said:
"More money you make, the less black people you see. Money brings you into a new category. You move to a different house in a different neighborhood and you get different friends. People that come around you, they help you make money, maintain your money, and make more money. That complexion changes."
"And it's divide and conquer. At a certain point, they sit you down," Wayans added.
However, he praised LeBron James for not changing his company and staying close to his longtime friends. He mentioned that he "loves" this about James.
