Coyote vs. Acme has found a new, potential home, thanks to Ketchup Entertainment. The independent studio recently acquired North American rights to The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie from Warner Bros. Now, they might save another Looney Tunes-themed project, according to Deadline.

The film, starring Will Forte, John Cena, and Lana Candor, was shelved by Warner Bros., reportedly for incentives. Sources say that Ketchup Entertainment is in the early talks for an all-rights acquisition deal for about $50 million.

Dave Green directed this film based on Samy Burch's screenplay. DC co-chief James Gunn had worked on its story along with Burch and Mortal Kombat 2 scribe Jeremy Slater.

According to the latest reports, Ketchup Entertainment might bring Dave Green's unreleased Coyote vs. Acme to the screen. The indie distributor has previously backed projects like Ben Affleck-led Hypnotic, Michael Keaton-led Goodrich, and Jessica Chastain-led Memory.

The latest update might offer relief to those upset about the studio's decision not to release Coyote vs. Acme. It sparked an outrage on social media from film professionals and lovers alike.

The director, Dave Green, was heartbroken by the disappointing update in 2023. In an X post, he said,

“For three years, I was lucky enough to make a movie about Wile E. Coyote, the most persistent, passionate, and resilient character of all time. I was surrounded by a brilliant team, who poured their souls into this project for years. We were all determined to honor the legacies of these historic characters and actually get them right."

He further added,

"Along the ride, we were embraced by test audiences who rewarded us with fantastic scores. I am beyond proud of the final product, and beyond devastated by WB’s decision. But in the spirit of Wile E. Coyote, resilience and persistence win the day.”

Will Forte also offered an impassioned note after Coyote vs. Acme was shelved by Warner Bros.

Forte spoke in detail about the "incredible" labor of love.

“Super funny throughout, visually stunning, sweet, sincere, and emotionally resonant in a very earned way. As the credits rolled, I just sat there thinking how lucky I was to be a part of something so special. That quickly turned to confusion and frustration. This was the movie they’re not going to release?”

This was the third project Warner Bros. shelved after Michael Kurinsky's Scoob! Holiday Haunt and Leslie Grace-led Batgirl. Hopefully, the deal goes through for Dave Green's film to see the light of the day.
