Conan O’Brien, 61, revealed a shocking incident, explaining how he almost killed Eddie Murphy, 63, in a car accident. In a recent episode of the Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend podcast, the renowned host recalled this unexpected moment.

In a conversation with John Mulaney, 42, in this new podcast episode, Conan O’Brien shared how he was about to nearly hit Eddie Murphy while driving to work. He shared:

"I was once driving to work, and I know exactly when this would have been because you could look it up, but I'm going down Gower Street."

Later, he also added:

"So I almost ended Eddie Murphy's life as he was making The Golden Child."

While talking about the time he made an illegal U-turn and almost hit a car, he further continued:

"I take the right off Sunset, I'm going down Gower. I see a parking space, and I turn around right near where Paramount is. I do a U-turn, an illegal U-turn really quickly, and a car is just then pulling into the gates. I almost hit it, and I stop fast in my s****y car, and the person looking out the window at me is Eddie Murphy."

Conan O’Brien disclosed what happened when was about to end Eddie Murphy’s life in this accident

In the Monday episode of his famous podcast, Conan O’Brien elaborated that the almost accidental incident was about to occur when Eddie was working on The Golden Child. Directed by Michael Ritchie, this 1986 action-comedy film featured Eddie Murphy as Chandler Jarrell.

While chatting with Mulaney, O’Brien chimed in:

"He's not driving, he's being driven, he's in the passenger side, and he's shooting The Golden Child."

As per a Newsweek report, the 2025 Oscars host later asked Eduardo Perez, the audio engineer, about the year the movie came out. He inquired:

"What year would that be?"

Eduardo responded, saying that The Golden Child was released in 1986, to which John added to the conversation that it was the "same weekend as Three Amigos."

Finding the similarity interesting, Conan O'Brien questioned:

"Oh, is that true?"

In response to the podcast host, John shared how The Golden Child made more revenue than Three Amigos. He said:

"Yeah, and it beat Three Amigos at the box office."

In Conan O’Brien's podcast, John Mulaney also discussed:

"And those guys, those Three Amigos guys, will tell you that at the drop of a hat."

On December 12, 1986, both movies were released. While The Golden Child made a revenue of around $ 80 million and was released on December 12, 1986, Three Amigos earned $39 million. On the opening weekend, the Eddie Murphy-starrer made $11.5 million, while the Steve Martin-starrer reported $5.9 million.
