Comedian Jeff Ross, known best for his impeccable comedic timing on Comedy Central and Netflix’s celebrity roasts, was hospitalized on April 6, 2025. The 59-year-old roast master general was on tour in Mill Valley, California and stepped out to get some ice cream, unaware of the escapades that would follow.

Eventually, the comic ended up in the hospital when the symptoms of an allergic reaction kicked in; Ross not only started feeling ill, but his face became visibly swollen.

Jeff then went on to share the experience with his followers on Instagram, posting a carousel containing several pictures of himself and even one of the delicious desserts that wound up being the culprit. His caption started off lightheartedly with,

"ROAST ME. TONIGHT’S SHOW NEAR SAN FRANCISCO MUST GO ON!"

Jeff Ross Hospitalized - A full breakdown

According to Ross, he was with his band celebrating after a performance of his one-man show, Take a Banana for the Ride, when the uneasiness kicked in.

"Had such a fun opening night performance of @takeabananafortheride up here in Mill Valley, California @throckmortontheatre. Afterwards, me and the band celebrated with some burrata ice cream at a restaurant down the street courtesy of the nice owner. It was delicious. Seriously yummy."

It was at that point when the swelling became apparent and Ross had to take action.

"It was my first allergic reaction ever, I guess that’s pretty remarkable considering I’m constantly shoving whatever food is in front of me into my face."

Always in good spirits, the comedian then went on to thank the hospital’s medical staff before sharing a final message with his fans: this would not prevent him from his next San Francisco show.

"Thank you to the overnight shift at MarinHealth Medical Center for only roasting me a lightly. DESPITE LOOKING LIKE MICKEY ROURKE at the end of The Wrestler… I WILL BE TAKING A NAP AND BACK ON STAGE HERE IN MILL VALLEY NEAR SAN FRANCISCO AT 730pm TONIGHT. 🍌🍌🍌."

A few of Ross’ celebrity friends chimed in on social media to share words of encouragement for his recovery. Former N’Sync band member Joey Fatone posted "Sloth love chunk … and I can always be your chunk! Speedy recovery my brother”. Comedian Josh Wolf joked that he ”Didn’t even notice a difference”, in an obvious attempt to jest about Ross' current state.

Lately, with the influx of serious news about celebrities suffering from major health crises, it's good to know that the comedic stalwart will make a full recovery. It's also a blessing for Ross his friends and his family that he was able to avoid the worst case scenario from unfolding.
