Colman Domingo has been a director since 2018, but he hasn't properly worn that hat yet. Now it's the time as he is all set for his directorial debut with the upcoming film dubbed Scandalous! that stars Sidney Sweeney as Kim Novak and David Jonsson as Sammy Davis Jr. If the reports are true, the movie will begin filming this year only.

The American actor and playwright's breakthrough came with Fear the Walking Dead, where he played Victor Strand. It wasn't just acting that he did. He also became the first actor from the series to sit in the show's director's chair. Following his success, he has been nominated for a couple of Academy Awards, too.

Scandalous! isn't the only project Colman Domingo is directing

The news first came from Film Updates' handle on X (formerly Twitter), where the post read,

"Colman Domingo’s directorial debut ‘SCANDALOUS!’ begins filming later this year."

Fans appears to be excited about this project, especially when they saw this trio. This one fan wrote,

"Excited for this! Colman Domingo, Sydney Sweeney, and David Jonsson."

And of course, they have confidence in Colman Domingo, as this fan said,

"You had me at Coleman Domingo."

Though it will be challenging for Colman, given his experience with Fear the Walking Dead direction, pulling this off shouldn't be an issue. Not just that, he is also directing a Nat King Cole biopic, which was supposed to be his directorial debut. But we still don't have much on that.

We do not have much detail about Scadalous!, but Matthew Fantaci, a staff writer for The New Look, is writing the film. Moreover, Deadline reported in 2020 that Jonathan Glickman is producing the film. There's no update on this bit.

The film will revolve around the times when Sammy Davis Jr. dated Kim Novak, a time when celebrity images were carefully controlled. Upon their initial interactions, there was even a blind item that discussed if this was true or not.

A BBC documentary dubbed Sammy Davis Jr: The Kid in the Middle even claimed that Harry Cohn, Columbia Pictures chief at the time, used mobsters to threaten Davis so he wouldn't get involved with Novak. There's a high likelihood that Cohn was thinking about the studio's reputation.

This is among the most interesting stories in Hollywood, where we already have documentaries on both celebrities. But then a proper feature on them is a proper candy for cinemagoers.
