The Primetime Emmy Award-winning actor Colman Domingo has recently shed light on all the buzz happening about him supposedly replacing actor Jonathan Major for the role of Marvel's iconic villain Kang the Conqueror in movies and series by Marvel including Loki (2021-2023) and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023).

Jonathan Major has ceased working with the MCU and several other forthcoming projects since he was guilty as charged for assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend.

Soon, rumors began circulating that Colman Domingo had been brought on board by Marvel for the role of Kang. The actor, however, has recently addressed it on a podcast, and here we shall get into its details.

Colman Domingo addressed rumors about him supposedly replacing Jonathan Majors as Marvel's Kang

Colman Domingo has opened up about his thoughts about the Jonathan Majors replacement rumors, as spoken to Josh Horowitz in the podcast Happy Sad Confused.

Colman Domingo stated that when he saw the persistent rumors about the recast all over the internet and the media, he enquired his team, asking if there was any covert conversation between them and Marvel that he was unaware of. When his team denied it, it served as a catalyst for Domingo to speak to Marvel by himself, in order to clear the air.

Colman Domingo disclosed in the podcast that he and the chief people of Marvel got into a transparent conversation about it, as he states:

“There had been conversations of me coming into Marvel in some way, so we did follow-up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel. So, I did do that, and we talked openly about the landscape of Marvel and, or even like, the Kang rumors.

Domingo also emphasizes the importance of doing sensible things, whilst incorporating gentleness in the energy, as he stated:

"And I personally knew that like, listen, I am just all about energy and I just want to do things that make sense and bring gentle energy"

He further expressed his desire to become a part of something that is solely autonomous, something that he makes entirely on his own from its base, rather than superseding someone.

"But I feel like, I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is, whatever I develop. I don't want to..something did not feel right of me like 'oh, what I replace someone?', I said no, I want to build something from the ground up that is my own"

Colman Domingo concludes the conversation about the recasting rumors with Marvel, as well as re-iterates his wish to create something on his own, as he elucidates:

"so I feel like that was never a conversation from my point of view, you know what I mean? I mean if I was discussed I still don't know if I was discussed but, I just know that I would want to build something from the ground up so there's still talks.”

As per reports, there was also planning to make a forthcoming MCU project named Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, after withdrawing Jonathan Majors from any further MCU projects, Avengers: Doomsday has started to build rather, having celebrated actor Robert Downey Jr. on board to essay the role of the prime antagonist Doctor Doom.
