A third-degree felony accusation of violence against a family member or household member had led to the arrest of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy in Williamson County, Texas. The 21-year-old NFL player faces a serious allegation of blocking the alleged victim's breathing, which carries a maximum penalty of $10,000 in penalties and a possible jail term of two to ten years.

The Williamson County Sheriff's Office booked Worthy into jail Friday evening. In Texas, it is a third-degree crime to obstruct a family member's breathing or circulation. As of early Saturday afternoon, no bond had been posted, according to online records.

In a statement, Worthy's lawyers, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, refuted the accusations, saying the argument was about a lady who wouldn't leave Worthy's house. They claimed that Worthy had frequently ordered her to leave the house after receiving proof of her adultery from a private investigator. They also claimed that she took out pieces of Worthy's hair, scratched his face, and destroyed property.

Although Xavier Worthy allegedly refused to file charges against her, the lawyers argue that there is video proof of her injuries.

The lawyers said,

"We are working with law enforcement in Williamson County to ensure they have the benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation,"

In response to Worthy's arrest, the Kansas City Chiefs said,

"We are aware and gathering information."

Xavier Worthy was chosen 28th overall by the Chiefs in the first-round pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

He had an impressive debut season, 104 running yards, three rushing touchdowns, and 59 receptions for 638 yards and six receiving touchdowns. He was important to the team as an offensive contributor. Despite the Chiefs' 40–22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, he had an outstanding Super Bowl performance with two touchdowns and 157 yards.

This isn't the first time a Chiefs' player had a run-in with the law. In the month of April, Rashee Rice was involved in a six-car collision as he was travelling 229 miles per hour. With Rice's potential suspension or legal problems, the player's off-field activities became a concern for the team.

His arrest raises questions about Xavier Worthy's promising NFL career, as fans and commentators worry how this legal conflict would affect his future with the Chiefs. As the investigations continue, the league and the team will likely determine whether to implement punitive measures.

The Chiefs and Xavier Worthy's legal team are still awaiting more information.
