The search for Charlotte Drozd, the 17-year-old daughter of The Flaming Lips's Steven Drozd, has concluded successfully.

Charlotte was reported missing on the evening of October 5, 2024, but on the morning of October 8, Tuesday, police announced that she had been found, bringing much-needed relief to her family and friends.

In an interview with The New York Post, the Seattle Police Department said:

“The Seattle Police Department can confirm 16-year-old Charlotte Drozd has been located and is now safe with her family"

Just before the police confirmed Charlotte's safe return, Katy Coyne, wife of The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, shared on Instagram that “Bowie” Drozd (as Charlotte's friends and family refer to her) had been found safe near Seattle. In her Instagram post, Katy wrote:

“Thank you to everyone helping bring her home safely... there’s no other information about the situation yet but she was just found 🙏.”

The Seattle Times on Monday stated that according to Officer Eric Muñoz, a spokesperson for the Seattle police, there is no ongoing criminal investigation nor any reported case of kidnapping. He said that this is simply a standard situation involving a missing juvenile.

The Flaming Lips members thank everyone for helping

Wayne Coyne, the frontman of the three-time Grammy-winning Flaming Lips also took to his socials to thank everyone for their efforts in spreading awareness and supporting Charlotte's friends and family during the search. Here's his post caption:

"Yessssss❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️she’s found and is safe.. her mother has spoke with her.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️THANK YOU everyone for all your posts and all your networking and all your support and all your skills and all your trust and all your LOVE !!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️"

Celebrities like Juliette Lewis, Jack Black, and Flea (from Red Hot Chili Peppers) who had also shared Charlotte's information on their socials to amplify the search, have commented on Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips's joint post, expressing their relief.

Alongside dealing with the shocking disappearance of Charlotte over the weekend, the Flaming Lips band members are also mourning the loss of 17-year-old Canadian singer and the band's protege, Nell Smith.

Nell had collaborated with the Flaming Lips on its 2021 cover album of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, titled Where the Viaduct Looms. She passed away in a shocking car accident on October 5, the exact date when Charlotte Drozd went missing.

The Flaming Lips is scheduled for their "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" tours in 2025 for which it has concerts slated all across Europe and Australia.

The Flaming Lips are an alt-rock band formed in the 90s and known for the experimental, psychedelic, and electronic elements that it adds to rock music.

It has earned three Grammys in total: two in the category of 'Best Rock Instrumental Performance' for its songs Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon (Utopia Planitia) in 2003 and The Wizard Turns On... in 2007.

Additionally, it won a Grammy for 'Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical' in 2007 for its album At War with the Mystics.
