According to the latest updates, Charlie Cox will reportedly return to the big screen as Daredevil in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4. Moreover, to the fans' surprise, Zendaya will get a much shorter role as Mary Jane Watson in the latest Marvel spin-off, as per The InSneider Report.
After the global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a fourth installment in the saga has long gotten the greenlight. But the latest industry insider report from Jeff Sneider has highlighted some major details in the cast - most of which bring exciting news for viewers but the Zendaya bit has left the fans a little disappointed.
Charlie Cox aka Daredevil reportedly returns to Spider-Man 4
Multiple sources have confirmed that Charlie Cox will return as Daredevil in Spider-Man 4. His upcoming TV series Daredevil: Born Again is also set for a Disney premiere on March 4, 2025.
Earlier in No Way Home, we had a cameo from Matt Murdock (Daredevil) and there has been a lot of speculation among Marvel fans on whether he will be seen teaming up with the webslinger.
The return of this character means the Marvel Cinematic Universe connecting its film and TV worlds. Moreover, Eddie Brock (Venom) left behind a symbiote fragment in No Way Home's post-credits scene - so a universe crossover won't be surprising at any point now.
Zendaya will reportedly get a shorter on-screen appearance as MJ
As per the latest reports, Spider-Man star Zendaya will get a shorter role in the upcoming movie because of her packed filming schedule. She will reportedly be busy with the production of Euphoria Season 3 and Dune 3.
However, her reduced role has left Marvel fans unhappy. One of the users commented on the update saying:
"I hate when this happens because it affects the story being told and affects the characters we love, just because of busy schedules."
Furthermore, speculation is also building up on Sacha Baron Cohen's Marvel debut in the role of the demonic villain Mephisto, and as per The Scooper, his character might be a crucial antagonist in Spider-Man 4. However, this is yet to be confirmed by Disney.
When it comes to the story, lead star Tom Holland has reportedly said in a statement:
"We have a creative pitch and a draft, which is excellent. It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job."
He further added:
"I read it 3 weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I read it together, and at times we were bouncing around the living room, like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of fans’ respect."
