Captain America: Brave New World marks a major success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If the film continues its reign at the box office, the franchise can safely remain the highest-grossing of all time, as per reports of Collider.
The Anthony Mackie-led film marks the 35th film from MCU and the second last film from its phase five. It crossed $100 million domestically on its four-day opening weekend and $192.4 million globally, per The Hollywood Reporter. The critical reception usually doesn't matter for these films. In line with this, the 49% Tomatometer rating doesn't seem to have affected this new film as it has earned more than expectations.
The new Captain America film reigns supreme against its competitors like the live-action adaptation of The Lion King or the US release of the third Paddington film. Its chart-busting earnings have helped Marvel a new honor as the franchise remains financially the most successful one. If the film continues its box office reign, it can strengthen Marvel's case in terms of its commercial success.
Captain America: Brave New World - The Harrison Ford film helps Marvel reach a box office milestone

Captain America: Brave New World offers a commercial boost to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the THR reports, the Anthony Mackie-led film has earned $ 192.4 million globally, on the four days of its long President's Day weekend upon its debut in the cinemas. It has marked the biggest opening for a film in 2025 to date.
Per Collider, the average global haul of MCU's films makes the franchise consistently successful, when compared to their production costs. Their report notes that the average success rate for the studio is exceptional. If Captain America: Brave New World remains as successful as it has been so far, it can safely keep MCU at the top in terms of the gross of the entire franchise's projects.
It may be surprising for some viewers considering the shocking B- CinemaScore rating for this new Captain America film. That makes it the least-scored film of the Marvel franchise. Besides that, it has received a 49% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes with scathing reviews from film critics. The critical consensus on Rotten Tomatoes states,
"Anthony Mackie capably takes up Cap's mantle and shield, but Brave New World is too routine and overstuffed with uninteresting easter eggs to feel like a worthy standalone adventure for this new Avengers leader."
Regardless, Anthony Mackie's film doesn't seem to be heavily affected by this reception as it leads phase five on a commercially positive note.
