Anthony Mackie's Captain America: Brave New World is all set to hit theaters in two weeks and fans are highly anticipating the newest installment of the franchise which will also be the first one to be made after the departure of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.

As Mackie's Sam Wilson takes over the duties of Rogers' Captain America in a braver new world, the new film and its plot also introduce newer elements to the story, while also leaving behind some integral characters. One such character is Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes.

Bucky has been a part of Steve Rogers' journey since 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: Brave New World would be the first time that Marvel has broken the 14-year-old trend by not including Barnes in a Captain America film.

One might argue that Bucky's exclusion from the newest film in the franchise is because of Steve Rogers' absence from it, knowing that Bucky and Rogers were best friends in the film and were an integral part of each other's lives throughout all the events that occurred in the MCU.

Bucky was introduced as the Winter Soldier in the first film starring Chris Evans as Captain America, as he debuted as the superhero. In later films, Bucky became Rogers' sidekick and stayed alongside him. In contrast, Bucky and Sam Wilson share a more discordant relationship that is nowhere near as close as the former duo.

With that in mind, Bucky's absence from Captain America: Brave New World makes sense, and it will be interesting to see what turn the story takes with all the new characters.

The new film will revolve around Wilson unraveling plans for a global terror attack as Thaddeus Ross takes a seat as the President and is also set to appear as the Red Hulk.

Fans are excited to see what new turns this new phase for the Marvel Cinematic Universe will look like and what Wilson will bring to fans as the new Captain of the Avengers.
