The Breakfast Club hosts—DJ Envy, Charlamagne tha God, Jess Hilarious, and Loren Lorosa—recently reacted to the allegations filed against Shannon Sharpe in a $50 million civil lawsuit. They discussed the case details while mentioning that the Club Shay Shay podcaster denied the accusations.
Lorosa mentions that Sharpe denied the allegations while admitting that he was in a consensual relationship with his accuser. Her co-host, RaaShaun “DJ Envy” Casey, replied by highlighting the legality of Shannon’s relationship.
“But that's not against the law, ‘cause she was of age, so even though she was 19 that's not against the law.”
Charlamagne commented on the “messy situation,” criticizing the 54-year-olds dating the 19-year-olds. DJ Envy shared his opinion again.
“I agree with you, but it's not against the law. [...] As long as the person's over a certain age it is not against the law.”

The clip was reposted on X by @Glock_Topickz and received much attention from many. A user criticized Casey.
“Can envy shut up omggg”
Another user called out The Breakfast Club host for his logic.
“Envy never misses an occasion to drop the ball smh”

Internet users criticize DJ Envy over his argument about Shannon Sharpe seemingly dating a 19-year-old
The reasoning offered by RaaShaun “DJ Envy” Casey about the consensual relationships did not sit well with many. While talking about Shannon Sharpe, Casey also gave examples of “white people” like Leo DiCaprio, Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Hefner, and more to comment on the selective outrage when someone older dates a younger person.
Many on the internet criticized the Radio Hall of Famer after remarks went viral.
“DJ Envy just never get it right this ain’t got nothing to do with what white men do,” a user lambasted The Breakfast Club anchor.
“It may not be against the law, it's against common sense and logic. Her state of mind is still developing,” another user responded.
“How many times does Emvy wanna say “that’s not against the law”? We get it n***! Damn,” someone pointed out, Casey being adamant.
“Just because something isn't against the law that means you're absolved. 54 fucking on someone younger than your child may not be illegal. But it is weird as fuck.,” another one presented their opinion.
A user called out Casey for his reasoning.
“Envy a weirdo always using “the white man does it too” as an excuse b**** a** n****”
Another user argued against RaaShaun’s logic.
“DJ envy definitely got some dirt because slavery was legal too . Just because it's legal doesn't make it morally right.”
Someone called out DJ Envy.
“Dear Envy, please grow up. You've been at this long enough to know better. Blk people are not/should not be concerned with what white people do. We are not them. Failing to realize this has been our biggest detriment.”
Another one wrote,
“He had to google multiple white men that sleep with young women to justify his logic which is just p***phile logic in defense mode.”

Shannon Sharpe faced the s**ual assault allegations in a $50M lawsuit on April 21, 2025. The former Denver Broncos pro was accused by an unnamed plaintiff, who filed the suit in Nevada. According to NBC Sports, the accuser was in a “rocky consensual relationship” with Sharpe for almost two years before she pulled away from it.
In her filing, Jane Doe claimed that Shannon Sharpe non-consensually s**ually assaulted her in October last year. Per NBC Sports, another alleged incident happened in January. The plaintiff is represented by Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee (known for his involvement in s**ual misconduct filings against Diddy and Jay-Z).
Shannon Sharpe denied the allegations through an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, April 22. The former NFL player said,
“I’m gonna be open, transparent and defend myself because this isn’t right. This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee, who has targeted Jay-Z. Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a s** tape that tries to make me look guilty, and plays into every stereotype you could possibly imagine. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so.”
Sharpe confronted Buzbee and asked him to release the entire video and added,
“The encounter in question took place during the day at her invitation, and now that appears to be a deliberate setup.”
According to the New York Post, Shannon Sharpe, via his lawyer Lanny J. Davis, also released explicit texts sent by the accuser arguing about the nature of the relationship. Per TMZ, the accuser also released an audio depicting Sharpe as the aggressor, who allegedly threatened the plaintiff to choke her.
