While simply being in attendance was a dream come true for Sabrina, her surreal inaugural appearance at the Grammy Awards was punctuated by her taking home two trophies. This is wildly significant considering what a year it was for Pop music, especially its female acts, and the stiff level of competition the newcomer was facing in the categories for which she was nominated. At the night’s end, Miss Carpenter walked away with the Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance, in categories where her fellow nominees included Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and fellow newcomer Chappell Roan to name a few. Her heartfelt words upon receiving the honor will not soon be forgotten.
“Hello. I’m still out of breath from the performance so I really was not expecting this. All those nominees on the screen are some of my favorite artists in the world. This is my first Grammy, so, woo, I’m gonna cry. I wrote names so I wouldn’t forget on this napkin. Thank you to the Recording Academy for having me and having everyone here tonight in celebration and honor of everything that’s happened. I feel honoured to come together and do something special to celebrate music. I want to thank all my fans… my mom for driving me to every voice lesson."
Taylor Shows Love
Sabrina Carpenter performed as the opening act for 13 shows during the Latin America leg of Taylor’s Eras Tour in 2023, as well as 6 Australia shows and 6 Singapore shows in 2024. Swift, a close friend who was also in attendance, could not withhold her jubilation at what Sabrina was able to accomplish.
