Blue Lagoon star Brooke Shields interrupted President George Bush and his wife Barbara Bush.
In a recent episode of Today with Jenna and Friends, the Hollywood actress narrated a story of an awkward bedroom encounter that involved Jenna Bush Hager's grandparents, George W. Bush and Barbara Bush to Jenna Bush Hager, her co-host for the episode.
“I never had a grandfather, and since I was quite young, he [George] would give me boy advice and be like, ‘OK, I like that one. I don’t like this one,’ so it was a very sweet relationship that I needed to have and hadn’t had anyone else,” Shields said as she missed her own grandparents.
According to a Newsweek article, Shields began by telling Jenna that she had met her grandparents in the 1980s and that she would take boy advice from George in the 1980s.
"I met your grandparents in the '80s," Shields told Jenna Bush. "I never had a grandfather, so since I was quite young, he would give me boy advice."
When Shields became a popular actress, she received an unexpected call years later while shooting in Boston. The caller was George Bush, who said he knew Shields was in the area and casually asked her to meet him and his wife. He reportedly said:
"Excuse me, young lady. I hear you're in the area. If you do not come to Kennebunkport, you are in trouble."
The Pretty Baby actress then proceeded to Maine to Bush's beach house with her two daughters Grier and Rowan whom she shares with her husband Chris Henchy. That is when things started taking an awkward turn.
"I sneak downstairs to do a puzzle, go get a beer, and as I get a beer, water is flooding into the living room from the ocean." Shields panicked and started cleaning the mess herself.
Shields shut the doors and started wiping the spilled water with towels. She rushed to the downstairs bedroom and found that the president and the first lady were settled. They were laid back in their Lay-Z-Boys, watching an episode of Law & Order, SVU while enjoying dinner.
The actress recalled mimicking closing her eyes because Barbara was in a dressing gown.
Shields told them that the house might be flooded but she assured them it was under control. On hearing this, Barbara seemed to be very calm and composed and asked Shields to eat with them and enjoy the episode.
Shields further recalled that Barbara said to George that Brooke might know who did this.
“She’s like, ‘George, maybe Brooke can answer this question … Ask her, ask her,'” Shields continued. “He goes, ‘Well, who do you think did it?'”
Hager laughed and thanked Shields for sharing such a sweet story of her grandparents. Former President Bush and his wife died months apart in the year 2018.
Hager has mentioned her family roots and her father and grandfather former President George W. Bush.
