Right after the allegations of r*pe came out against Jay Z, DJ Akademiks took to social media to commence a livestream session, which he kicked off by playing "Dead Presidents II" from Jay Z's Reasonable Doubt.
However, the internet has since reacted with varied reactions, with some even viewing it as an act of malice. Here's what one user stated:
"Bro really making money off black men suffering."
Others weighed in as well:
"Innocent until proven guilty," one user pointed out.
"he’s been ready for this to happen," someone else noted.
"Diabolical," a third person penned.
The comments didn't end there:
"The way he tries to dance to this is so f*n weird" yet another probed.
"It's all coordinated," someone else echoed.
While only a handful of users online were "feelin'" the song, scores were unhappy with DJ Akademiks' move. Some pointed out that he was hit with his lawsuit earlier this year, with accusations in the same vein, calling his actions ironic.
DJ Akademiks accused of forcing himself on a woman, he calls it nothing but a ploy for money
In May 2024, DJ Akademiks was sued for allegedly r*ping a woman. The lawsuit was filed in New Jersey Superior Court, with Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe accusing Akademics, real name Livingston Allen, of "brutally" forcing himself on her in July 2022.
She also accused two others of drugging and doing the same at a party in the media personality's house that day. DJ Akademiks was hit with charges related to s*xual assault, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and defamation. Abashe also moved to have a jury trial.
At the time, he sat down for a live-stream to state his piece:
"I'm going to go against my very high-priced attorney's advice today, but I'm still not going to say much. My only comment should really be: Whatever this is will be handled in court. Just know, according to the law and according to the police and according to all sanctioning governing authorities, Akademiks is an innocent man who has not ever been charged with anything of the sort that has to do with any deviancy or anything like that, has never been charged, will never be charged. That's a fact."
He also rubbished the lawsuit as "a shakedown," noting this "is a money tree situation."
As for Jay Z, the hip-hop rap legend has been accused of s*xually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000 alongside Diddy. However, he has since refuted all such claims, brushing them off as nonsense.
