YouTuber and former kick streamer Jack Doherty appeared to have a musical 21st birthday bash. As per an X post by DJ Akademiks, he had invited rapper Lil Baby to perform at his birthday party. Not only that, it is reported that he paid $200,000 to the rapper as remuneration. DJ Akademiks wrote,
“Heard he paid $200K for baby to perform 7 songs or so. Good Deal. Baby from what I heard gets like $600k minimum to perform a show. (1 mil or more if rolling loud). so a private small party for 200k 7 songs not bad.”
Doherty also shared photos and videos from his birthday party on his Instagram. However, internet users had a lot of reactions to this news. One X user wrote:
“Bro got scammed.”
Most netizens hinted at the lucrative deal that Lil Baby got from Jack Doherty calling him a ‘gold mine.’
“lil baby just securing the bag and leaving,” a person commented.
“Quick $200,000 for Lil Baby,” another X user wrote.
“Jack is a gold mine to Lil Baby bro,” a netizen reacted.
“Bro is only there to get paid,” another social media user reacted.
Social media users criticized Doherty for paying Lil Baby more than he paid to his friend.
“When you pay lil baby more than the friend you almost just killed,” another person wrote.
“Lil baby is down bad if he has to perform at Jack Doherty's party , negative aura,” an X user commented.
“He just paid lil baby more than he gets paid at concerts for his birthday party that’s how you know nobody likes this nga,” a social media user commented.
Jack Doherty was banned from the streaming platform Kick
Earlier this month, Doherty drove a sports car and frequently glanced at his phone to read the chat. While multitasking, he lost control of his McLaren and collided with a guardrail. He then filmed himself exiting the vehicle and inspecting the damage, with his passenger, a cameraman, visibly bleeding in the footage.
Jack Doherty reported that he was unharmed, and no other individuals were involved. In response, streaming platform Kick permanently banned Doherty, stating that it does not tolerate illegal activity, and acted swiftly to remove him.
He is also reportedly facing a lawsuit for assault and battery related to an alleged altercation at a party involving his bodyguard.
After this incident, he switched to the streaming platform Twitch where he made his debut on October 11, 2024. He announced his new streaming platform through a tweet, though he mentioned feeling disconnected without his usual Kick audience.
It was a brief five-minute livestream where he asked for advice on how to avoid getting banned on Twitch, reflecting on his previous ban on Kick and wondering how he could stay in good standing on the platform.
The 21-year-old YouTuber also expressed hope of eventually being unbanned from Kick. However, Kick’s co-owner, Adin Ross, publicly stated that Doherty would need to pay $300,000 to lift the suspension, warning that without the payment, his ban would remain indefinite.
