Rapper Kanye West and Adidas had severed ties over his Yeezy products, but despite that, the apparel company seemed to continue to display the products on its website.

On January 7, 2025, the rapper, also known as ‘Ye,’ shared a lengthy Instagram post accusing the company of undermining him by prioritizing their website over yeezy.com in search results.

He claimed the apparel company engaged in design theft and oppressive practices during their partnership, which he considered officially over. Kanye West wrote:

“I’m not going to stand for this (no pun again) I did phenomenal work for you guys and because I stood up for myself yall tried to intimidate and oppress me everyone remembers I had major issues with adidas because of design theft and oppression before “the tweet” side note yall know Jerry was corny and disloyal for doing work with adidas.”

His post eventually led the company to reportedly take down the products displayed on the website. Social media users called it a bold move with one X user writing:

“Boss calls were made.”

Netizens suggested this was a win for Kanye West while others called it the end of an era:

“The end of an era that marked a before and after,” a netizen reacted.
“Adidas felt his aura and removed everything,” a person commented.
“YE ALWAYS WINS,” another social media user wrote.

A few X users pointed out that the products have been removed from the company’s website, while others wrote that the prices might go high now:

“Going up against corporations one on one,” an online user remarked.
“Yeezy have been off their website for 5+ months lmao,” an internet user mentioned.
“so im guessing that mean the trainers will cost more now,” another X user suggested.
“Making peace before bully, the definitive album of the 20's, drops,” an online commentator opined.

Kanye West’s Instagram post targeted against Adidas also highlighted his growth with Yeezy

Kanye West expressed frustration over past collaborators and individuals he felt exploited because of their association with him for personal gain. He emphasized that Yeezy's success is independent of external partnerships. He highlighted his brand’s revenue of $100 million in just six months and noted his efforts to regain control over his Shopify accounts.

Kanye West also discussed his vision of making his brand accessible with a $20 price point, criticizing the luxury fashion industry’s inflated costs. Ye revealed ongoing work on new designs and reaffirmed his commitment to making Yeezy a dominant, independent force in fashion.

Adidas CEO, Bjorn Gulden, expressed a desire to move past the controversy involving Kanye West during an October press conference in 2024.

He emphasized that all disputes had been resolved and no financial obligations remained between the parties. He acknowledged past tensions but stated that both sides had agreed to leave the issues behind. Gulden also noted that Adidas planned to sell off its remaining Yeezy stock by the end of 2024.

The relationship between West and Adidas had been strained, especially after the rapper faced global backlash in 2022 for making anti-Semitic remarks. These comments led to the apparel company cutting ties with West and ending its association with the Yeezy brand.
