Blumhouse's Wolf Man reboot seems to be up to a good start, based on its previews collection.

Leigh Whannell, who previously directed The Invisible Man (2020), has returned with this new horror project. The critical and commercial success of The Invisible Man, in which Elisabeth Moss starred, led him to direct Wolf Man. It serves as the latest addition to Universal Pictures' Dark Universe, which is bringing back the classic monster characters to the screen.

Whannel's latest addition to this cinematic universe reportedly earned $1.4 million during its preview screenings on Thursday. Theatrically released on 17 January 2025 by Universal Pictures, it is on a solid start in terms of its box office collections. According to Variety, the Christopher Abbott-led film is expected to cross the $17 million mark on its first weekend, along with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday. The projected collection is between $17 million and $21 million.

The fantasy horror film is set against One of Them Days, a buddy comedy film starring Keke Palmer and SZA in the central roles. Let's see how the films will potentially fare against each other.

Leigh Whannel's Wolf Man remake has earned $1.4 million through its preview screenings

Writer-director Leigh Whannel is back with another monster horror flick. Wolf Man, a remake of the eponymous 1941 film, has grossed about $1.4 million during its preview screenings. It stands fairly close to Whannel's previous directorial effort, The Invisible Man, which earned $1.65 million in its previews and made about $28.2 million on its opening weekend. Eventually, it emerged as a critical and commercial success, reportedly earning $143 million.

Wolf Man is supposed to fare $17 million to $21 million on its first weekend, according to the reports. This Leigh Whannel directorial is a relatively low-budget film made with $25 million. So, the early predictions lead one to believe that the film is up to a satisfactory start for success.

The film shows Ozark alumni Julia Garner as a woman trying to save her family after a road accident leaves them in a state of disarray. Christopher Abbott plays her husband who goes through a severe transformation after that tragic accident.

Wolf Man will face Lawrence Lamont's One of Them Days this weekend at the theaters. The latter is a buddy comedy film, written by Syreeta Singleton, stars Keke Palmer and SZA in the central roles of close friends, Dreux and Alyssa. SZA, a Grammy award-winning R&B star, is making her feature film debut with this project.

In the current age of streaming, it is rare to see a comedy film getting a theatrical release. It has made $1.3 during its preview screenings and is set to gross, reportedly between $8 million & $13 million.
