Eddie Murphy will be starring in a film called Blue Falcon in the action-comedy genre. The Beverly Hills Cop actor has been a part of several successful films in the same genre. So it would be exciting for his fans to see him in the forthcoming project.
Blue Falcon is backed by Sony Pictures, and Murphy is reportedly going to play a superspy who has retired. A lot of the details are still kept under wraps, but the fans of the actors are reportedly excited with this fresh piece of information. They can expect Murphy's signature sense of humor to be a part of Blue Falcon.
Eddie Murphy to appear in Blue Falcon
Deadline has reported that Eddie Murphy will be appearing in the Sony Pictures action comedy film Blue Falcon. The script is penned by Chad St. John, and Murphy has been assigned to play a superspy who has now retired. He goes to attend the destination wedding of his son, where things escalate after he witnesses his former rival.
Murphy is also the producer of Blue Falcon, along with Charisse Hewitt-Webster, for his banner, Eddie Murphy Productions. Other producers of the film include Cliff Roberts and John Davis for Syndicate Entertainment and Davis Films, respectively.
Murphy was last seen in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, where he reprised his role as Axel Foley. The film was released on Netflix on July 3, 2024, and received positive critical feedback. He spoke to Today about returning as the character.
He said,
“It felt like old man I did ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was 21. And I’m 63 now.”
While the franchise is known for its action set pieces, Murphy's age did not allow him this time to perform his stunts. He explained,
“We were shooting something, and the director said, ‘I want you to come out of this place and run down those steps.’ And after we shot it, he was like, ‘Can you come down with more urgency and faster?’ And I was like, ‘No!’”. I was like, ‘I’m not doing anything action. Don’t call me unless you’re offering me the same type of (expletive) you would offer Morgan Freeman’”.
Starting his career as a standup comedian, Murphy eventually started acting in films. In the 1980s, he appeared on Saturday Night Live, which helped him become a popular name among viewers.
Some of his popular films include The Nutty Professor, The Golden Child, and Daddy Day Care. Murphy will be reprising as a voice actor for Donkey for the forthcoming Shrek film called Shrek 5. It has been planned to have a release in December 2026. He is also in talks to star in a film based on George Clinton.
