When news broke that the upcoming new soap Beyond the Gates had not only changed its name from The Gates but also cast its first three leading ladies, longtime soap fans were overjoyed.
Karla Mosley's joy
The Bold and the Beautiful alum Karla Mosley will play former model Dani Dupree on the highly anticipated CBS daytime drama. After the announcement was made, the actress took to Instagram to express her joy.
"And so it begins…It’s been a minute, but it’s time to get back to it," Mosley wrote. "My gratitude could not be any deeper to the soap opera icon (and my dear friend) @michelevaljean for your vision, courage, and joy in creating this groundbreaking project. The first new soap in over 20 years, y’all!"
The actress continued giving thanks to her co-stars and others. As the World Turns' Tamara Tunie has been cast as matriarch Anita Dupree, while One Life to Live and Passions star Daphnee Duplaix will play Nicole Dupree.
"To @msttunie and @theonlydaphneeduplaix my heart is just exploding. What a gift to be cast opposite both of you," Mosley said. "To my @cbstv family, I am so proud to be back. To @therealkimcoleman - thank you thank you thank you. And to @creativetalentcompany and @buchwaldtalent thank you for seeing me for so long. Let’s go!!!!!"
Mosley got her soap start on Guiding Light in 2008, playing Christina Boudreau, but her breakout role came in 2013 when she landed the role of Maya Avant on B&B. Maya was eventually revealed to be a transgender woman who married legacy character Rick Forrester. Mosley remained with the half-hour soap until 2020, although she last had a storyline in 2019.
About Beyond the Gates
Beyond the Gates will be the first daytime soap opera to premiere since 1999, when Passions replaced Another World as part of the NBC daytime lineup. Veteran soap scribe Michele Val Jean created the show in conjunction with CBS, Procter & Gamble Studios, and the NAACP. Beyond the Gates is set to be the first soap since 1989's short-lived Generations to focus on a Black core family.
The action on the new soap will take place in Washington, DC, and in a gated community of a nearby affluent Maryland suburb. Beyond the Gates is set to begin filming in November in Atlanta, and it will premiere in early 2025.
