Ben Affleck is serious about visiting Matt Damon on the sets of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Ben Affleck is here to give all his support to his longtime friend Matt Damon for his next venture in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which stars the actor as the protagonist Odysseus.

Matt and Ben have been friends for a long time, having collaborated on Good Will Hunting alongside Robin Williams and a few other projects throughout their careers.

Additionally, they also ventured into new businesses for an independent film company and a production company. Affleck spoke to GQ about Damon's new film The Odyssey as he praised Nolan as a director while adding on praises for a few more directors' names who he would love to work with. The actor said,

"If Martin Scorsese called me and told me to play a waiter, I would take it. Steven Spielberg is one of the great filmmaking architects to ever live."

He then added,

"I feel that way about Chris Nolan. I may go visit Matt on the set just to watch Nolan direct. I’m not even kidding at all."

Nolan's next project is set to be a high-profile, star-studded affair that has been joined by some of the biggest actors in this generation as the Oppenheimer director reimagines the classic Greek tale by Homer. Based on the epic poem, the film will follow Odysseus's odyssey after the Trojan War while his wife Penelope awaits his arrival back at his kingdom.

Universal Pictures has described the film in an X post that reads,

Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

The film is currently in production as reports have revealed who the cast is playing in the new film.

Joining Damon are Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliott Page, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, Bill Irwin, and Cosmo Jarvis. Filming is currently taking place in Sicily, which has been described as being a fair representation of the locations featured in Homer's poem.

Hathaway is said to be starring as Odysseus' wife Penelope, who struggles without him back at the kingdom, being swarmed with marriage proposals to give the kingdom a ruler. Holland is rumored to play Odysseus and Penelope's son Telemachus, who sets out on an odyssey himself to bring his father back home. Athena, Telemachus's partner, will be played by Zendaya, giving the actors another on-screen pairing.

The film is being shot by Hoyte Van Hoytema, the iconic cinematographer who has worked with Nolan on four films before. Emma Thomas is contributing as a producer alongside Nolan himself.
