The long-awaited Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie launched internationally on September 6, 2024. Since then, the movie's actors and actresses have been busy with promotional efforts. In a similar promo, actresses Catherine O’Hara and Jenna Ortega shared a rare tidbit of information about their ultimate movie picks.

In a promo interview with Letterbox for their “Four Favorite” segment on September 6, the co-stars were put on the spot to unveil their top four movies. O’Hara did not doubt her top cinematographic features. After briefly pondering, she revealed that her number one pick was Triangle of Sadness. Next, O’Hara gushed about It’s a Wonderful Life, saying,

“Sorry, typical, but, I really - that kills me every time. I weep 14 times throughout that movie.”

The Schitt's Creek actress continued with her list, adding Holiday Inn - a 1942 classic Christmas film. She concluded the list with her own movie - the prequel to the one she’s promoting: Beetlejuice.

Ortega was initially surprised by the interview question and insinuated she forgot to check their email. However, after briefly composing herself, she had a set of unique movies that can perhaps be considered archaic.

Ortega is known to indulge in movies with dark undertones and her responses matched the aesthetic of her choice. Her top picks were primarily classic, and the first one had O’Hara befuddled: La Haine, which Ortega describes as a “good classic and timeless movie” that is relevant to date.

She continues to add the 1975 classic Barry Lyndon to the list. Ortega also gushed about a movie that greatly inspired her: The Passion of Joan of Arc. The actress commends Renee Falconetti’s performance and says,

“I feel like a dream character for me would be Joan of Arc.”

Ortega concluded her list with her ultimate pick, starring actor Harry Dean Stanton in Paris, Texas.

Catherine O’Hara reprised her role as ‘Delia Deetz’ in the movie. Her character is a creative genius - an artist who loves expressing herself. In addition to being erratic, she has a flair for fashion and often wears panache-fueled ensembles throughout Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

The one thing that O’Hara’s character oh so deeply desires is, respect. Despite being a doting mother, a loving wife, and a hardworking artist, she never really got it. But, it appears that she’s accomplished that desire in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Newbie to the franchise, Ortega plays O’Hara’s granddaughter, ‘Astrid Deetz’ in the newly released movie. Astrid is described as a focused and determined character who desires a life of tranquility.

Despite coming from a wealthy and famous family, Astrid decides to attend a boarding school far away from the hubbub of her mother, Lydia Deetz’s (Winona Ryder) fame.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now in theatres across the world! Whether or not it could come to a streaming platform remains to be confirmed.
