Fat Joe sat down for an interview with Matt Hoffa on his My Expert Opinion podcast, where he discussed his views on "radical Black racists."In a clip that came out on Saturday, December 21, Joe also took shots at the Foundational Black Americans, which he referred to as the Foundational Black Authority.
He dubbed them "broke Black racists," a response to their views on Blacks and Puerto Ricans working on hip-hop together. The video has since triggered a wave of backlash, with many users dissing Fat Joe. Here's how one user reacted:
"He’s been hanging around Remy Ma too long."
Here are some of the varied reactions:
"But did he lie?" one user asked.
"i just feel like he ate. Y'all only mad because he's Mexican but he didn't lie and this don't make him racist. He should stop saying ni*ga tho," someone else noted.
"That's what this is about? How did this come back? Social media will bring up old ish just to have something to be outraged about, but when some of us said something when it originally happened we were just haters. Are we all mad together now? Asking for a friend. Lol," another opined.
"He shouldn't speak on Black business at all," a fourth person claimed.
The comments didn't end there:
"He should have been checked a long time ago," one user claimed.
"Been telling yall for years fat joe been outta pocket," another asserted.
"Nah he’s absolutely right! FBA and ADOS are extremely racist towards anyone who’s not a descendant of slaves. Including all Caribbean and African ppl as well!" somebody else opined.
"Yes! He was out of line," one user echoed.
Scores online were visibly outraged at Fat Joe's cavalier use of the term "n****."
Fat Joe shares his thoughts on the status quo of the FBA, claims they're "radical Black racists"
In the video, Fat Joe can be heard saying:
"These rumors were made by radical Black racists ... It's a group of these guys that don't want to hear Jamaican, don't want to hear Guyanese, don't want to hear a Black guy not down with them, right? So, their job is to criticize anybody who doesn't look like them. Who ain't Black American. The FBA, whoever these broke [explicit] is. I'm just keeping it a buck. And their mission is to attack everyone on Twitter."
His tirade didn't end there, however, as he also took shots at the FBA's leader:
"Do you see this [explicit] who runs them? Yo, man, you gotta be f*ckin kidding me. So, they trying to change the narrative because they're not from New York. So they telling a whole other story."
As for how his year has been, he claims 2024 was the worst year to be a celebrity. During the podcast, he noted that,
"All our legends, all our mentors getting scrutinized. This is the worst time to be a celebrity in the history of mankind. I’m not sure you guys wanna be celebrities.”
He also reflected on his relationship with Remy Ma and her estranged husband, Papoose.
Joe, who is the godfather of their six-year-old daughter, noted that "It’s a hard situation." He went on, adding, "Nobody comes to my house and tells my wife s—t. This is your husband. I can’t get in the middle of that.”
Fat Joe saw a lot of ups and downs this year. While he may have launched his series on Starz, Fat Joe Talks, and had a performance at the Apollo Theater, he also lost his brother during Thanksgiving weekend.
