Wyatt Russell has made a name for himself through his committed performances across several roles. Some could say he has had a leg up on the competition throughout his acting journey, as his parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, have embedded themselves in American pop culture by means of their prowess in the same craft.

In a recent PEOPLE interview conducted on the red carpet for Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts*, Wyatt shared the sage showbiz advice he received from his parents that has governed his approach to working on any given project, and it seems simple enough.

“Be on time, don’t be an a------ and remember your lines”

What makes the advice he shared even more poignant is that Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were side by side with Wyatt on the red carpet for the London premiere of Thunderbolts*, where the interview took place. Hawn and Russell have famously dated since the 1980s but never formalized their relationship with nuptials.

Their family is also 'blended' as Hawn and Russell had children before their relationship began. Kate and Oliver Hudson (both actors) are Wyatt’s siblings from his mother’s previous relationship with Bill Hudson, while Kurt’s son, Boston, is from his prior marriage to former actress Season Hubley.

In 2023, Wyatt and his father Kurt were given a very unique opportunity on the set of the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Not only would they be co-star on the project, but they would be playing the same character at different ages. Kurt gushed about the opportunity when speaking with Entertainment Weekly during an interview alongside Wyatt in 2023.

"We were being given this opportunity to play the same person, as opposed to the father and son, so we started hammering away at it and saying, 'Let's make this good!' "

Russell went on the describe the experience as,

“a wonderful opportunity to get to work with Wyatt.”

Wyatt was on track to be a professional hockey goaltender before an injury derailed his promising career. After his sports dreams were unfortunately made impossible to achieve, Russell transitioned to acting, including memorable roles in an episode of Black Mirror and 22 Jump Street, which led to his eventual casting in the MCU. Russell is married to fellow actress Meredith Hagner, and the couple shares two children.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers early last year, Wyatt spoke on his father Kurt’s willingness to accept the role of being a grandparent to his young children,

"He's awesome, 'cause he can do all of the hard sort of lessons that sometimes I don't want to have to do.”

This is seemingly an easy family to root for, as they’ve turned in several unforgettable performances and have avoided all of the celebrity pitfalls that create a disconnect between the artist and their audience. The Russells, like countless people on social media, look forward to Thunderbolts* with a special sense of hopefulness as Wyatt’s career continues to flourish.
