Hollywood has been thriving with the production of biopics in recent years as fans get to explore the lives of various celebrities through cinematic lenses. A new project at Amazon's MGM Studios is currently in the works that will explore the legendary Tiger Woods' life.

Although confirmation is awaited for now, Barack and Michelle Obama’s company, Higher Ground, is said to be producing the film. This won't be the first time the duo have backed a biopic, having produced the 2023 release, Rustin, based on Bayard Rustin's life. The film was a huge success and the recipient of major awards and nominations, including an Oscar. The production house was also behind Ethan Hawke's psychological thriller, Leave the World Behind.

Apart from that, Higher Ground has also produced Waffles + Mochi, a Netflix show for children that advocates for healthy eating habits. More shows they have worked on are Ada Twist, Scientist and We The People, both made for children.

Tiger Woods' biopic will be based on The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played, by Kevin Cook. Reinaldo Marcus Green is set to direct.

This won't be the first time that Woods' life is being brought to the screen. The two-part HBO series Tiger, which debuted in 2021, chronicled Woods' story. Based on Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian's 2018 book Tiger Woods, the documentary explored the star athlete's ascent, decline, and comeback in the golf industry.

The film will focus on Woods' achievement of capturing the "Tiger Slam," which was a term used for Woods winning four consecutive championships. The player saw immense acclaim and became the most well-known golfer of all time after going pro in 1996 at the age of 20.

He dominated golf for most of the first decade of the 21st century, and was the top ranked player from August 1999 to September 2004 and then from June 2005 to October 2010. He was the recipient of 13 of golf's major championships during this time.

His life then took a sharp turn in 2009, when his extramarital affairs were brought to light as his marriage to Elin Nordegren fell apart. As he faced intense public scrutiny, the golfer also found himself in legal trouble for driving under the influence as more of his affairs were revealed.

Issuing a public apology to his wife, Woods expressed regret over his actions while also announcing that he was uncertain of his return to the sport.. However, he returned shortly after for the 2010 Masters.

It's uncertain whether his personal life will be a part of the biopic. There have not been any revelations as of now on who would play Woods in the film. More details are awaited for now.
