BAFTA TV Awards 2025 nominations list: Baby Reindeer leads, followed by Rivals, Slow Horses and more

The 2025 edition of the BAFTA TV Awards is finally here, almost a month after the conclusion of the BAFTA Film Awards. The latest edition of the BAFTA TV Awards and the BAFTA Television Craft Awards has recently released the list of nominations for the categories in competition.

It seems that Netflix's Baby Reindeer is in for a victory march this year, with eight nominations under its belt so far. Apart from this and coming up in the second and following spots are the Disney+ show Rivals, Apple TV+'s Slow Horses, and the ITV show Mr. Bates vs the Post Office. Each of these three shows has garnered six nominations.

What's the latest buzz about the BAFTA TV Awards 2025?

London's Royal Festival Hall is the venue for the 2025 edition of the BAFTA TV Awards, which shall take place on Sunday, May 11. In a recently released statement, BAFTA chair Sarah Putt noted:

"From stories that got the nation talking, to courageous documentaries about conflict and real-life events, this year’s television nominations celebrate the exceptional creativity and craft of British and international television, and of the talented people who bring it to life on-and-off screen."

Similarly, BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip noted:

"2024 was a standout year for television, testified by the 134 brilliant programmes nominated by BAFTA members. The power of television to drive national conversation, to tap into the stories of public interest, and to inspire societal change, is second to none. U.K. television is at the top of its game.”

BAFTA TV Awards 2025 nominations explored

This year, the awards have a special mention in the respect that out of a total of forty-four nominees in the performance categories, twenty-one of them are having their first BAFTA nomination in their lives. The list includes Christopher Chung and Jonathan Pryce for Slow Horses, Nicola Coughlan for Big Mood, Jessica Gunning, Nava Mau, and Richard Gadd for Baby Reindeer. Marisa Abela for Industry, Lolly Adefope for The Franchise, Nabhaan Rizwan for Kaos, McKinley Belcher III for Eric, Sharon D Clarke and Ariyon Bakare for Mr. Loverman, and Bilal Hasna for Extraordinary.

Apart from this, several veteran actors such as Martin Freeman, Gary Oldman, David Tennant, Toby Jones, and Lennie James have earned nominations.

The award ceremony will be airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
