NOTE: Possible SPOILERS for Avengers: Doomsday
Mushk Rizvi, an illustrator and concept artist at Marvel Studios, posted some images from the upcoming crossover event Avengers: Doomsday. However, it doesn't look like Disney or Marvel Studios are pleased with the illustrator posting these images on her official site. Thus, the images were taken down from her site, but you know the internet, the traces can never be erased!
However, considering that an official concept artist posted the images on their official site, it can't be termed a "leak."
MCU Avengers: Doomsday concept art explained
Here are the image descriptions:
- Victor Von Doom is sitting on a throne in a (probably) Latverian Castle. Standing beside him is Doctor Strange, The Queen, and a young Prince (possibly Sue Storm and her son Franklin Richards). We see a man brought to his knees as a prisoner, a blonde woman who serves as Doom's enforcer. She might be Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.
- Rumors are swirling on the internet that we might get a new T'Challa/Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman's untimely passing in August 2020. However, it is unclear if this man is a T'challa from another universe or if he is the grown-up son of T'challa also named the same but goes by "Toussaint" in the MCU. He was released in the mid-credits scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
- An image of the Young Avengers features Wiccan, Kamala Khan, Wiccan's brother Speed (whose origin is hinted at in the Agatha All Along finale), Kate Bishop, and Cassie Lang. Wong and Peter Quill supervise these young kids. However, the biggest character in this image is Doop, who is part of a mutant team called X-Statix. Speaking of Peter Quill, another image features the Star-Lord.
- A unique piece of concept art in this bunch is a light-hearted one depicting Star-Lord and "White" Vision. They are sitting on a couch surrounded by pizza and beer bottles. It looks like they are roommates now. However, it must be noted that this friendship comes out of nowhere because Quill hasn't met Vision yet.
- One of the major Avengers: Doomsday concept art is that of a village full of Hulks. In their Hulk form, Bruce Banner and his cousin Jennifer Walters interact with a long-haired Hulking figure. In the background, we can see a mysterious fortification wall, if the comics are to be followed, is just the Fantastic Four's Ben Grimm/The Thing.
What will MCU's Avengers Doomsday be about?
Announced at Hall H at SDCC 2024, the next two movies featuring the Avengers, much like Infinity War and Endgame, will be split into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Secret Wars even shares its name with the 2015 comic book event of the same name that was written by Jonathan Hickman.
Recently, the Russo Brothers sat down for an interview with The Playlist's Rodrigo Perez. They discussed their return to the MCU and the gargantuan task of directing the upcoming Avengers movies. Here is what Joe Russo said:
“We definitely try to—I mean, we did so many of those movies in a row that you sort of forget about the pressure. The job is so all-encompassing and so intense that you can’t really think about, ‘Well, what are people going to feel or think about this?’ All you can think about is, ‘Is this a good story that we want to tell or not? Why are we doing it?’”
