Tesla CEO Elon Musk has weighed in regarding the present wildfire situation in Los Angeles. An X user shared a new outlet’s post on January 9, 2025, stating the fire situation in Hollywood Hills. The situation became worse with northern winds coming in through the canyon.
At the time of the incident, 20 closest fire trucks were reportedly called to the scene but accessing and containing the fire would require more than just trucks. The media coverage was soon reposted by another user who asked:
“Hey so at what point do we start entertaining the idea that this is an attack?”
Elon Musk replied to this statement with his comment:
“Arson is a real possibility.”
He also shared another post writing that the significant loss of homes in Los Angeles was largely attributed to two key factors. Firstly, it is due to excessive regulations that hindered the creation of fire breaks and proper brush clearing.
Secondly, poor governance at both state and local levels led to a water shortage. While climate change posed genuine risks, its impact progressed more gradually than some alarmist claims suggest.
This was Elon Musk’s response to a post by Kaizen D. Asiedu who wrote climate change is a genuine concern, but so is the ineffective response from far-left policies.
Asiedu said prioritizing DEI initiatives over adequately funding essential services like the LAFD and favoring environmental concerns like endangered fish over human needs, highlighted misaligned priorities. He also mentioned that a far-left city is struggling, and unless there’s a shift toward addressing the root causes, more cities could face similar challenges.
Elon Musk’s suggestion that the fire was man-made also resonates with similar other claims
It is noteworthy that Elon Musk is not the only person who has suggested the possibility of the fire being caused by arson. The most striking question about the wildfire has been ‘Who started the fire?’ or ‘What caused the wildfire?’
Reports even suggested connections between the fire and a UFO appearance, although no official statement about such claims has been made.
A viral video sparked outrage on social media, showing individuals allegedly setting fires at 302 Pico in Santa Monica. While netizens labeled them as arsonists, authorities have not confirmed these claims, and no direct evidence links the group to intentional arson.
Elon Musk also announced that his telecommunication provider Starlink would provide free terminals to the areas in Los Angeles that were affected due to the wildfire. He wrote:
“SpaceX will provide free Starlink terminals to affected areas in LA tomorrow morning.”
His statement came after a live report mentioned that the only reason they could telecast was due to the Starlink connection as cell services got disrupted. Elon Musk’s initiative would provide residents and emergency responders with dependable internet access during the crisis, facilitating improved communication and coordination.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone informed reporters on January 8, 2025, that the cause of the Eaton fire remains undetermined and is currently under active investigation.
Over 500 personnel were assigned to contain the fire but the attempt was mostly unsuccessful. He mentioned that the residents who defied evacuation instructions suffered significant injuries.
