You probably have an idea about how it feels to arrive at a party too early or on time. Well, it seems Selena Gomez didn't have an idea after all. Gomez and her fiancee, Benny Blanco, ahead of their new album, which is set to be released on March 21, 2025, appeared on Countdown To. The engaged couple discussed the upcoming album, I Said I Love You First, and also talked about their romantic relationship and the initial days of their love story.
For those who don't know what Countdown To is, it is Spotify's podcast series where musicians and other artists, along with their collaborators, come to discuss their art, talk about their lives, and so on. However, during their conversation on the podcast, Blanco asked several questions and also talked about going to parties together, after which Gomez shared a funny story about when they attended a party thrown by none other than Taylor Swift.
The actress/singer recalled crashing Swift's party along with Benny after an award ceremony. Then she goes into the details and reveals that they were the first people to arrive at that party, and she mentions that she was a little embarrassed as they were on time.
The 32-year-old pop icon then explained:
"I don’t know it was kind of cute, but I was mortified. Apparently cool people don’t show up to parties on time."
Benny immediately took the opportunity to tease Gomez by saying,
"We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you. You show up when like my mother shows up to a party."
Selena and Taylor have been bosom friends for quite some time. There is not much difference in their age as well. Both the singers at one point also dated members of the Jonas Brothers. However, when Selena took to Instagram to announce her engagement with Blanco, the 35-year-old Swift was one of the first ones to comment on her post, saying, "Yes, I will be the flower girl," implying her involvement in their wedding. This comment on Gomez's post received almost two million likes.
Other things Selena and Benny talked about on Countdown To
On the Countdown To podcast, the engaged couple, Gomez and Blanco, also talked about the process of creating the album, I Said I Love You First, and discussed how different it was to work at Benny's home studio in Los Angeles, California. Not to mention, they also talked about their early memories of dating, going for drives, visiting the Santa Monica Pier, and riding the Ferris Wheel while having corn dogs and cotton candy.
