The Queen's Gambit fame Anya Taylor-Joy could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Daniel Richtman, an industry insider, puts in his new report. The actress could become a part of the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland in the lead.

In his latest report on Patreon, he writes,

"Marvel/Sony eyeing Anya Taylor-Joy for a role in next 'Spider-Man' movie. I should remind people she was also eyed for the female Silver Surfer in 'F4' before the role went to Julia Garner."

However, there's no official announcement regarding the news but it could be that she will be joining the MCU as Gwen Stacy now that Zendaya's MJ is said to have a minor role in the film.

Anya Taylor-Joy could be a fitting piece in the new story

Spider-Man 4 combined with the multiverse holds a lot of scope for new stories in the saga. While Gwen Stacy appears to be a fitting part for the actress, there's another character who can be a game changer if introduced in the MCU.

Anya Taylor-Joy was a part of The New Mutants where she played Illyana Rasputin, sister of Colossus, too. Many might not know but the group has crossed paths in a comic book issue with Spider-Man. This might begin a new story arc.

In a Marvel Team-Up Annual issue, Moonstar and Cannonball seek help from the web-slinger to rescue Sunspot and Wolfsbane. Later in this issue, Illyana helps the New Mutants to give Xavier a party. However, she never crosses paths with Spider-Man.

But then Mephisto is rumored to be appearing in the movie and he is one of the demons who noticed the character's activities alongside Dormammu, Blackheart, and more when she was seeking Bloodstone amulet. Anya Taylor-Joy may appear to assist Tom Holland's Spider-Man as she is well aware of the evil forces.

The film is likely to focus on the superhero's return from the multiversal chaos he made in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Daredevil and The Punisher could show up and both heroes have faced Blackheart, who is the son of Mephisto. This all could connect and MCU may give us a rather new story.

It is also rumored that this is going to be a street-level story. Nevertheless, the characters that are rumored to appear in the film won't fit well in a street-level story. And if there's a chance that The New Mutants are being associated with it, that should well be another multiversal saga.
