Captain America: Brave New World is the MCU’s next big project and it is gearing up to take place as an important chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Captain America himself a.k.a. Anthony Mackie throwing hints at its impact in setting the stage for yet another Avengers: Endgame-level event.
Mackie, who takes on his role as Sam Wilson/Captain America, trusts that the film will act as a foundation for a much bigger narrative payoff in future MCU installments.
Laying the Groundwork for a New MCU Milestone in Captain America: Brave New World:
During the Captain America: Brave New World press event, actor Anthony Mackie pondered upon how the MCU films in the past laid the base for major crossover events.
He recollected a talk with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during the production of Avengers: Endgame, where Feige talked about the impact of such a grand finale and how it took years of dedication to make something this big.
Mackie referred to Captain America: The First Avenger, which brought in Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and how it laid the foundation for his eventual big fight with Thanos in Endgame.
While talking about the role of the new Captain America film in the MCU’s progressing story, Mackie stated:
"It was a foundation. It was a building block that the MCU built and built and built to Steve Rogers standing on that peak and looking out to Thanos' army… The movie was called Endgame for a reason."
Mackie also talked about the resemblances linking his new film and Evans’ MCU debut, signifying that Brave New World will act as a similar starting line for a major MCU climax walking down the road.
“And I feel like this movie, Brave New World, just like Captain America, the first Avenger, is that foundation, that building block to build to that next crescendo. Massive moment in the MCU universe.”

Expanding the Captain America Legacy
Captain America: Brave New World marks Anthony Mackie’s first official solo role as Captain America following his character’s evolution from being the Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and various other MCU films in the past.
The new Captain America film brings in newer dynamics in the MCU, some of which feature Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon and Harrison Ford taking on the role of President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross/The Red Hulk.
The comments made by Anthony Mackie point to how Captain America: Brave New World might play a central role in setting up a bigger narrative arc, possibly heading to the next major MCU event film.
Captain America: Brave New World is slated for a release on the 14th of February, 2025.
If Mackie’s intuitions and visions prove to be correct, this next immediate installment in the MCU, possibly won’t just be yet another superhero film—it could plausibly act as an important release in the MCU with it laying the base for another Avengers: Endgame level masterpiece in the upcoming MCU phases.
