Get ready to welcome more Deadpool content into your life as Ryan Reynolds seemingly confirms the development of a new project only a year after his mega-successful Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent interview with TIME Magazine, the Canadian star spoke in detail about his wisecracking character and whether he plans to reprise it in an upcoming MCU project. He said that he would love to experience the feeling of walking in his character's shoes.
"It's a feeling that I just want more of, and I think I'd be able to do that as a supporting actor."
Shortly after, Reynolds dropped a major update about another Deadpool movie that will include an ensemble like Avengers or X-Men.
"I'm writing a little something right now as an ensemble, but... I like that he's isolated. If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Men, we're at the end. That's his wish fulfillment, and we can't give him that for a long time."
When asked about how he envisions his return to the MCU, Reynolds revealed how he envisioned his character in his previous projects.
"For a character that talks like that, you have to take everything from him. So, his skin, his face, he's covered in scars and wears a mask out of shame. We used his character to tell a story about shame, to tell a story about family, and it's also about redemption."
Reynolds also spoke about the different versions he had started writing, including a stop-motion movie and a Sundance version. He also highlighted the creative satisfaction he received from working on the 2024 movie, which also brought iconic characters like Wesley Snipes' Blade to the screen.

Ryan Reynolds reveals that he is writing a new movie, keeping the return of Merc with a Mouth in mind. However, he hasn't revealed any specifics about his project. He says that Wade Wilson cannot be a part of an Avengers or X-Men movie for creative reasons, but that doesn't necessarily mean he won't be a part of the upcoming slate of MCU movies like Doomsday or Secret Wars.

Reynolds was not on the cast list for Doomsday, as revealed on March 26, 2025. However, after the livestream, Marvel boss Kevin Feige hinted that more cast members will be revealed soon. So, it is possible that he makes a surprise appearance in one of the (or both) Avengers movies. After all, Deadpool & Wolverine brought Hugh Jackman back in his role, even though he technically died in Logan.
Until any further announcement, fans can only hope for the best.
