The Watch What Happens Live host, Andy Cohen, made some surprising revelations recently.
The famous Bravo TV personality appeared on the Season 11 reunion episode of Married with Medicine, a reality show about women doctors and doctors’ wives. Andy Cohen admitted that he recently got Botox:
“I just got it for the first time in my life.”
On being asked about how recent the cosmetic procedure was, Andy Cohen replied:
“Like a month ago… They gave me a little. They gave me just a little.”
The WWHL anchor previously told Elizabeth Day on her How to Fail podcast that he has never undergone any plastic surgery. Andy further confessed that:
“It's not something that I think I need to do. I don't know who I would be doing it for.”
The 56-year-old also said he would “probably do it soon” in November last year. Eventually, the talk show host admitted to having gotten the procedure done quite recently.
Andy Cohen revealed last year that Joan Rivers begged him to get Botox
The Real Housewives executive producer spoke candidly about never getting Botox or any other procedure in the past when the host of How to Fail asked him about it. Andy recounted how the late actress-comedian Joan Rivers begged him to get Botox, but he never did. Here’s what Cohen said:
“Joan Rivers before she died used to beg me to get Botox. And every guy that I know who's hosting a TV show, mainly all of them are younger than me or about my age. They all have had Botox.”
Andy continued,
“I look at their foreheads. I'm like, your forehead does not move. But I haven't done it yet.”
Andy Cohen admitted that Botox was not something he felt he needed, but he might have it done soon. Elizabeth Day responded affirmatively to her guest’s opinion, claiming he didn’t need it. She further mentioned that many of The Real Housewives stars feel the pressure of looking “a certain way.” Andy agreed and said,
“Yeah, so many women today and men. I mean, I know so many gay guys. A group of gay guys came over to my house this summer. And I was like… I said to my friend who brought them, I said, ‘This is like botched.’”
He added,
“I said, ‘This has to stop.’ I said, ‘Your generation, what are you doing to yourselves? Like, you're handsome young men. Stop this.’ Yeah. So I think people need to get a hold of themselves.”
During the podcast, Andy Cohen also talked about The Real Housewives franchise. When asked about the term “housewife,” the talk show host said that “it was always meant as a wink.” He explained that the Bravo reality TV franchise was a “wink” to ABC’s hit mystery comedy-drama, Desperate Housewives.
Andy also remarked on the term “real” as he spoke,
“There was not that much real about them because they were early adopters of Botox, breast implants, pieces in the hair. They were augmenting themselves in a quest of youth and beauty. Some of the forerunners of that quest on television.”
He explained that when The Real Housewives commenced, Botox was not a popular thing, which is why the term “real” was a wink. Andy proclaimed that being a housewife now “is just to be a modern woman.”
