Since Kendrick Lamar has headlined the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, the internet has seen numerous bold takes. While many loved K.Dot’s set, the naysayers have continued to criticize the Compton rapper for different reasons.

The latest bold take on Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl comes from comedian Andrew Schulz, who didn’t specifically criticize the Not Like Us rapper. However, Schulz claimed the set might have let down Lamar due to the lack of recognition for the rapper among the casuals.

On his Flagrant podcast, the comedian even compared K.Dot with Pitbull and Flo Rida, declaring the other two more popular artists. Schulz started by saying,

“Jackson-esque antics that could maybe help you cross over, And so I think that's where even Kendrick fans were a little bit let down. They wanted to prove to the world that he's the best and I don't think that performance made the casuals go, ‘Yeah he's the best.’”

Schulz’s partner on the Flagrant podcast, Akaash Singh, pointed out that Lamar did perform his bigger hits at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Hence, he couldn’t use those tracks again during the 2025 edition. However, Schulz elaborated on his stance and added,

“So, the other thing we were saying is, like, there are certain abilities that just cross over primarily. Like, it doesn't matter how good you rap. It's not gonna penetrate in a same way as, like, f****** Adele singing.”

Schulz further described Kendrick Lamar’s set as “niche” and even went on to say that someone like Bad Bunny “can’t do Super Bowl [halftime show].” It didn’t end there, but a few seconds later, the comedian compared Kendrick Lamar to Pitbull and Flo Rida. He said,

“Pitbull sells less tickets than Kendrick. More people know Pitbull songs across all genres.”

Schulz also proclaimed,

“Flo Rida is a bigger artist than Kendrick Lamar. I'm just being honest with you. I'm just being honest with you. That's not hate, that's facts. That's data. Look at Spotify.”

It’s worth noting that while Schulz questioned Lamar’s popularity, he maintained that he liked the rapper’s show.

Amidst his hot take on K.Dot’s popularity, Andrew Schulz did call Not Like Us a smash hit, which he liked during the set. Schulz, who previously had a beef with Lamar, also claimed earlier during the podcast,

“Obviously, there’s been a little bit of smoke or whatever. It’s been a little bit of beef, but, outside of that, I can look at a performance and I can say, it was good. It was colorful.”

He later called the performance “alright,” while others on the podcast claimed they loved the show. Interestingly, Akaash Singh named Kanye as one of the rappers he thinks can pull off a Super Bowl halftime show. Schulz agreed to Akaash’s take but also jokingly commented that the halftime show featuring Ye might end up being the last one ever.

In July 2024, Andrew Schulz hosted ShxtsNGigs podcast's James and Fuhad on Flagrant. During their conversation, one of the topics was bi-racial relationships, and Schulz dropped controversial remarks,

“[Men who date Black women] shave their hair because they start losing it. Because they are so stressed being around that Black girl complaining about sh*t all the f****** time. They grow beards cause there's more cushion when they get slapped the f*** out.”

Months later, Kendrick Lamar dropped Wacced Out Murals and supposedly called out Schulz for his remarks. The track included a reference to Schulz’s comments,

“Don't let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that's law — I know propaganda work for them, and f*** whoever that's close to them.”

In December 2024, Andrew responded to the apparent diss from Kendrick Lamar. He tried to call out K.Dot’s hypocrisy by highlighting how many rappers disrespect women in their tracks,

“Listen, no one has respected women more through art than rappers. So I completely understand how a rapper could look at a comedian telling a joke and be like, Yo, you need to switch that sh*t up... Be more like us, b****** ain't nothing but h*** and tricks, I beat my b*tch with a stick.”

Schulz accused Lamar of supporting the likes of R Kelly and Chris Brown, while Akaash Singh verbally displayed his agreement to his fellow comedian’s rant. The New York comic further mocked Lamar by making more controversial jokes about him. He spoke,

“I would make love to him and there's nothing he could do about it. Just Kendrick Lamar, I would make love to him. And the only thing that he could do is decide if it's consensual or not.”

Schulz also made fun of Lamar for his small frame. After the episode aired, the comedian was met with loads of backlash and online threats. He later referred to the Kendrick fans who threatened him online as K-bots.
