While talking about identity politics, black activist and psychologist Dr Umar Johnson said US Presidential candidate Kamala Harris would pay back the ones who questioned her ethnicity, during an interview with Elev8ted Podcast on October 21, 2024. He mentioned,

“And I am going to tell you this, this is what black people not paying attention to. If Kamala Harris wins, we really going to catch hell. You know why? She going to make us pay for everybody who exposed the fact that she was never black. Do you feel me? She has a grudge and an axe to grind. Black people ain’t getting sh*t if Kamala Harris get elect.”

Dr Umar’s comments about the Presidential candidate have gained a lot of reactions from social media users with one X user writing,

“And Trump will do what ??!!”

Netizens disagreed with Dr Umar, saying he had a grudge against Kamala Harris.

“Shouldn't he be meetin' with some kids or doing cafeteria duty or something,” a netizen wrote.
“Typically I agree with Dr Umar but not this time. Also, f*ck y’all think Trump gonna do to black people?” a social media user commented.
“This guy is a big fool. Masquerading as if he got some intelligent take on Kamala meanwhile he only has a grudge. Smh. Always about black folks but when the time came he's for a white guy. Lol listen to him at your peril,” an X user reacted.

Social media users questioned whether he had opened a school for black boys:

“Did he open his school for black boys yet??? I’ll wait!” a person commented on X.
“I’m done with Dr. Umar. We are at a critical moment in history and this educated man who claims to love Black people will let a known fascist take control of our country & potentially reverse much if not all of our progress,” another X user pointed out.
“So now we are creating scenarios in our heads? He needs to just admit that he doesn’t love Black women like he claims to,” an online user commented.

Dr Umar Johnson stated that Kamala Harris' ethnicity would not have been an issue had her focus been on policy-making

Dr Umar said he didn’t believe Kamala Harris was of African descent and argued that if her focus had been on policy rather than race, questions about Harris' heritage would not have arisen.

He pointed out that figures like Candace Owens have scrutinized Harris' background, which he believed wouldn’t have occurred if she had centered her approach on policies, particularly those benefiting Black Americans, rather than emphasizing her heritage.

Kamala Harris’ ethnicity has been under scrutiny on multiple occasions. However, what has been asserted time and again is that she was born to immigrant parents. As per Reuters, her mother was from India while her father was Jamaican.

The US Census categorizes individuals with Jamaican heritage within the Black racial group. According to her White House biography, Harris holds the distinction of being the first woman, the first Black American, and the first South Asian American to serve as Vice President.

He had previously claimed that Kamala Harris' campaign once offered him $10,000 for an interview. On August 15, 2024, he posted a video on social media asserting that the Black vote is not for sale as the presidential election approaches. He emphasized the importance of concrete benefits rather than symbolic gestures, stating a demand for tangible actions over superficial support.

Dr Umar also alleged that celebrities, including Rickey Smiley and Steve Harvey, had been compensated to endorse Kamala Harris, whom he referred to as "Kabama Harris." He expressed willingness to proceed with the interview but made it clear that he was not interested in accepting any payment for it.
