Sony Pictures officially makes a creative announcement of the full cast for the upcoming reboot Anaconda, in a video featuring Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Selton Mello, and Thandiwe Newton. This upcoming film is the sixth part of the whole Anaconda film series, and this reboot is based on the OG 1997 film of the same name starring Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube.

The much anticipated Anaconda, directed by Tom Gormican, is set to make its theatrical release on the last of this year, that is, 25th December 2025. The synopsis of Anaconda, per IMDB, reads:

"A group of friends going through mid-life crises. They decide to remake a favorite movie from their youth but encounter unexpected events when they enter the jungle."

Sony Pictures Entertainment has dropped a heartfelt, hilarious, and most importantly, unique cast announcement video, and it could not be any more creative. The video features the cast members Jack Black, Selton Mello and Paul Rudd joyously making a musical piece that reveals all the cast members, along with Thandiwe Newton lifting up their spirits gleefully.

We see Jack Black singing his heart out, while Paul Rudd and Selton Mello are seen handling the musical bit, with Rudd playing the bongo and Mello thrumming the guitar. As Jack Black mentions the names of the cast in his song, their photos hilariously appear and fade on the screen one by one.

The nonchalant yet personal quality of this video almost is reminiscent of how an actor breaks the fourth wall and communicates to us directly. One of the most hilarious moments of the video is undoubtedly the one where Jack Black sings:

"..we're going to break its [snake's] neck and cook it on the stove"

The cast members of Anaconda as mentioned in the video include Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Selton Mello, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, and Daniela Melchoir. The Anaconda film's promotional strategy has quite been that way, even before this video, when the end of last year, in December 2024, Paul Rudd and Jack Black made a promotional video about Anaconda where Paul Rudd hints about the layered experience we can expect in the film, as he says:

“You want to get scared? You want to laugh? You want to celebrate with your friends or maybe you're alone and sad and have nobody but just want to forget about that, it's coming out of Christmas in 2025"

Jack Black also adds to the increasing stakes of our excitement for Anaconda as he exclaims:

“I’m excited for you to see this. It’s gonna be a big, big f**king snake, and it’s gonna rip!”
