Marvel has announced twenty-six characters who will definitely appear in Avengers: Doomsday as the studio hosts a five-hour live event, revealing the highly anticipated cast gradually with a new member introduced every 10 minutes. The impressive ensemble now includes the Thunderbolts, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and one Avenger from the original lineup. The video featured the actors' names displayed on the backs of chairs as the camera panned alongside them until Robert Downey Jr.'s name was revealed as the actors appeared in person.
Surprise announcements for the cast included Chris Hemsworth returning as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki, marking a reunion for the brothers. Additionally, several unexpected X-Men appearances have been revealed, including Patrick Stewart as Prof. X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Amidst the chaos of the new cast, the studio has also updated the logo for Avengers: Doomsday.
The new logo features more green undertones and a smoother font that displays the film's name. The font for Doomsday has also been altered, as the new letters appear more spaced and green. The previous logo had a rock-like texture, spelling the title in silver with a hint of green and a shadowy, opaque effect. Along with the updated logo, Marvel has announced that the film is now in production.
More details on Avengers: Doomsday

The new Avengers film will reunite the iconic duo of Joe and Anthony Russo, who previously collaborated on Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War. After Endgame, the brothers took a break from Marvel to focus on their independent projects. Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom has brought the creative geniuses back together, and considering their past work with the studio, fans can rest assured that the film is in good hands.
The Russo brothers have teased what direction Doctor Doom's plotline will take, as many have speculated about the circumstances under which the villain would return. While discussing the premise of the new film, Joe Russo told Omelete magazine,
“The only thing I’ll say about the movie is this: we love villains who think they are the heroes of their own stories. That’s when they become three-dimensional and when they become more interesting. And when you have an actor like Robert Downey Jr., you have to create a well-shaped, three-dimensional character for the audience. That’s where a lot of our focus is going.”
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.
