Amber Ruffin is in the news ever since her scheduled performance at the annual White House Correspondants' Association dinner on April 26, 2025, was canceled. There is considerable public interest over Ruffin's life and achievements. Among widely-discussed subjects is her net worth.

Comedian and show host Amber Ruffin's reported net worth as of 2023 is $3 million, according to the website, nta.ac.in. Most of Ruffin's success owes itself to the fact that she has been a writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers and has hosted a show named The Amber Ruffin Show for two season before it was canceled.

On the cancelation of her White House show, WHCA President Eugene Daniels released an announcement to its members via mail that stated:

"We are no longer featuring a comedic performance this year."

The statement added:

"At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists."

Another statement on the WHCA website read:

"The WHCA will never stop advocating for comprehensive access, full transparency and the right of the American public to read, listen to and watch reports from the White House, delivered without fear or favor."

The White House Correspondants' Dinner is an annual high-profile event that honors selected journalists from various news organizations, known as the 'press pool.' These journalists have first-hand access to the briefings and events at the White House.

This year, problem arose between the Trump administration and the independent WHCA over the selection of the comedic performer for the event. According to a BBC report in February 2025, the Trump administration eventually revoked WHCA's authority to regulate the press pool at future events.

Last month, after Ruffin was selected as the WHCA comedic host for the 2025 White House Correspondants' Association Dinner, Daniels, who is the political Correspondant for MSNBC, expressed his excitement for her to host the ceremony. AOL reports that a Daily Caller report stated:

“She has the ability to walk the line between blistering commentary and humor all while provoking her audience to think about the important issues of the day. I’m thrilled and honored she said yes.”
