Adrien Brody enjoyed an immensely successful year as the highlight of Brady Corbet's epic period drama The Brutalist, which is up for ten Oscars at this year's ceremony. Brody's role in the film as architect and Holocaust survivor László Tóth brought the actor great critical acclaim and quite a few nominations, but all that honor came at a cost.
Brody's character in the film is years older than himself in real life. Hence, prosthetics were an integral part of the film's shooting. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the actor recounted an incident on set when he almost lost his nose.
Narrating an anecdote on how a makeup artist mistook his real nose for a prosthetic one, the actor said,
“They did apply a lot of - they had to do a prosthetic procedure. And it’s funny, everyone’s very busy on the movie with a lot of moving pieces. And so I had a new team of people who I’d never met, and they were removing this apparatus all over me."
He then added,
“This woman was busily working away with a solvent on my nose. She’s just working away. And I said, ‘Are you trying to remove that?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ And I said, ‘That doesn’t come off!’”
Brody further continued the story, saying that the makeup artist apologized profusely and told him that this incident was one that would end up in her diary, much to the audience's hilarity.

Brody is no stranger to Holocaust-themed period dramas. Having been the star of The Pianist in 2002, which helped him set a record for being the youngest actor to win an Oscar for Best Actor, The Brutalist might just win him the second Oscar of his career. The actor has already swept his nominations at this year's Golden Globe Awards, and the film is a major and highly anticipated runner at this year's Oscars.
The Brutalist saw Adrien Brody as László Tóth, who migrates to America to live the American dream. Coming from and with nothing, the architect rebuilds his life all over again with his wife. It was noted for its depiction of art and creativity in contrast to its place in the modern world. The film won three Golden Globes out of its nominations of seven, including Best Actor for Brody, Best Director for Corbet, and Best Motion Picture- Drama.
The Brutalist also stars Felicity Jones as Brody's wife, Erzsébet Tóth, Guy Pearce as Harrison Lee Van Buren, and Joe Alwyn as Harry Lee Van Buren.
