A new image from Superman shows David Corenswet in James Gunn’s first DCU film

Superman has been a hot topic for a minute. However, the craze for this James Gunn project began with the release of a picture introducing David Corenswet as the new Superman in May 2024.

The initial image showed Corenswet wearing his superhero suit and his cape in a room while chaos ensues outside. After this exciting image, more details were gradually shared about this new superhero project.

The latest teasers offered some new updates and revealed a new list of cast members. Many new faces are brought in for this new DCU project, which is scheduled to be released on 11 July 2025. One of these updates is a new photo that has dropped online.

As seen in this X post by ScreenTime, a new photo of David Corenswet in James Gunn’s first DCU film has come online. It shows Corenswet as the caped hero in a moment of indecision. Not much can be speculated about the direction his character will take based on this single photo. However, the fans of this universe would want to keep a tap on any new detail that comes their way.

Corenswet's casting as Clark Kent had initially not received a warm welcome. Henry Cavill fans were upset by this recasting decision, considering Cavill's iconic portrayal of this Kryptonian superhero. However, new images of Corenswet as Superman show promise for this upcoming project.

Besides Corenswet, the new James Gunn film will star Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt (aka Mister Terrific), Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason (aka Metamorpho), Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Corps officer Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.

James Gunn has written the film's script based on the characters from DC. He is co-producing this film with Peter Safran, who has worked on several Hollywood projects, including The Suicide Squad (2021) and Aquaman (2018).

James Gunn's Superman, starring David Corenswet, is set to release in theaters on 11 July 2025.
