Disney's Snow White has been marred by controversy right from the start. The upcoming Mark Webb-directed musical fantasy film is slated to be released on March 21, 2025, but reports suggest that the makers have decided to scale down its Hollywood premiere. The possible reason is they are wary of the backlash that the film has been receiving for various reasons.
Actor Martin Klebba, who has voiced and provided motion capture for one of the seven dwarves, Grumpy, recently spoke about the news that the film's Hollywood premiere would be toned down, expressing disappointment.
Martin Klebba from Snow White reacts to the film's toned-down premiere
Martin Klebba, who is one of the seven dwarves in Disney's forthcoming Snow White, has responded to the studio scaling down the film's Hollywood premiere. The actor told New York Post:
“I was a little disappointed. I’m not disappointed in Disney. I’m disappointed in the world. We’ve come to this place in society where people work really hard on this movie, where Marc [Webb], the director, is probably four years into putting this together, [along with] the producers and Disney, and just because a couple of people have views that not everybody feels the same way, now we’re having to alter the fun part of making a movie, which is premieres.”
Martin said he was hoping to be on the red carpet with the team of Snow White:
“So I’m a little bummed, but I understand it as well,” and went on to state: “Disney is one of the greatest production companies of all time, so you gotta be really careful in today’s world. So I see why they did it. I’m just still a little bummed because I was really looking forward to doing the red carpet.”
He then said that the world has changed and has come a long way:
“The world has come a long way. Whether you’re woke or not woke, God doesn’t make mistakes. Just be you and accepting. Accept everybody for who they are and the world would be a great place.”
The actor concluded by wishing Hollywood became more open-minded to work with actors who have disabilities.
Variety recently reported that the makers of Snow White have decided to scale down its Hollywood premiere, which will take place at El Capitan Theatre on March 15 with no media allowed at the event.
Snow White will be released on March 21, 2025.
